OPEN ACCESS GUIDELINES FOR LMCB AUTHORS

• policy applies to peer-reviewed research articles, conference proceedings and non-invited reviews

• All LMCB research articles, conference proceedings and non-invited reviews MUST be compliant with MRC open access policy, irrespective of funding (because the LMCB is MRC-funded)

• Journals fall under three categories Hybrid journals (eg ) Fully open access journals (eg PLoS) Journals with “transformative agreements” for UCL authors (eg JCB)

• Hybrid journals have Green or Gold open access options: Green – content paywalled (embargoed) for time period (see details below) Gold – a one-off payment unlocks paywalled content

• Transformative agreements with specific publishers allow papers by UCL corresponding authors to be made Gold open access. Find list of publishers and details here.

• UCL has funding to cover open access costs for Green/Gold options and transformative agreement journals (see details below)

• All LMCB research articles must include Acknowledgement of MRC core award funding (MC_12266B) Details of how any underlying research materials, such as data, samples or models, can be accessed
