Title: The Flying Scotsman The Flying Scotsman is a feature film based on the remarkable true story of Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree. Inand as an unemployed amateur, Obree broke the world one-hour record on a bike of his own revolutionary design, which he constructed out of scrap metal and parts of a washing machine. Written by Sharon Howat. First, this movie is much better than "Chariots of Fire," albeit without the famous soundtrack. Second, this movie speaks to anyone who has spent hours on a stationary bike, pedaled The Flying Scotsman verdant countryside, or has challenged themselves to mile day. Third, this movie will resonant with those who've been forced to deal with depression The Flying Scotsman survived. I think the cinematography was terrific, except for some of the closeups of Obree on the oval. However, the shots of his front wheel and the tunnel vision which develop during a maximum effort are splendid. While pushing personal limits of time and distance, there's no way a cyclist won't think about Obree's extreme effort and success. Looking for some great streaming picks? British Broadcasting Corporation Home. Why is Flying Scotsman so famous? Why not run The Flying Scotsman through train from to Edinburgh? This train was soon nicknamed the 'Flying Scotsman'. In the London and North Eastern Railway decided to 'officially' name the train 'Flying Scotsman' and to promote the service they named an express locomotive 'Flying Scotsman'. In the locomotive was no longer required as the railway moved away from the steam age and was bought privately. It swiftly became a symbol of the 'great days of steam', running pleasure trips all over the country whilst the railway busily promoted its modernised service. This continued The Flying Scotsman confusion between the locomotive and the passenger service which had started in when the LNER decided to name one of their fleet of 'Gresley' pacific's 'Flying Scotsman'.
