Basalla Treasurer As you all begin your summer, I hope you are all able to reflect on this past school year and find some positive aspects of the challenges you faced. This may be the new skills you have learned in technology or creative ways of expanding learning options for students. It could be the reminder of how GOVERNING BOARD we can and should lean on colleagues for support. Perhaps it is a greater Christine Krol President appreciation for understanding and addressing the non-academic needs of students. It might be realizing how adaptable we really are at accepting Anthony Miceli changes. Or maybe it’s remembering to slow down and prioritize what is Vice President most important for our students, ourselves and our families. Whatever it is, Carol Fortlage you should all be proud of how you have taken these challenges, led with Tony Hocevar grace and continuously identified solutions for your students, parents and Frank Mahnic, Jr. community. While there will always be challenges and controversy ahead in leading and transforming schools, my sincerest wish for you this summer is Editor: to do those things that will allow you to recharge yourself both physically and Nadine Grimm mentally while remembering that you are truly our unsung heroes. -
Christiane Noll, a New York Born, New Jersey Raised Actress Was
Christiane Noll, a New York born, New Jersey raised actress was nominated for both the 2010 Tony Award and Drama Desk Award and won a Helen Hayes Award for her portrayal of Mother on Broadway in the Kennedy Center Revival of Ragtime. She made her Broadway debut starring in Jekyll & Hyde, creating the role of Emma. Ms. Noll received an Ovation Award for her comedic turn as Hope Cladwell in the National Tour of Urinetown, wowed audiences again as Vanna Vane in the new musical The Mambo Kings, soared as Jane Smart in the American premiere of The Witches of Eastwick, and most recently received another Drama Desk nomination for her work in Chaplin. She has been a member of the national tours of Grease as Sandy, Miss Saigon as Ellen, and City of Angels as Mallory/Avril as well as a tour of Australia and Thailand as Nellie in South Pacific. Ms. Noll made her opera debut with Plácido Domingo and the Washington National Opera in The Merry Widow as Valencienne at The Kennedy Center, her Hollywood Bowl debut with Dame Julie Andrews in The Gift of Music, and her Carnegie Hall debut as one of the 3 Broadway Divas with The New York Pops and Skitch Henderson in his last pops performance. Ms. Noll has been living up to her reputation as being "one of the most versatile actresses in the American Musical Theatre" with a varied repertoire in Broadway, Opera, Operetta and Jazz.
