Masquerade Ball Fact Sheet Masquerade Ball Fact Sheet Date: Saturday, February 2, 2019 Time: 7pm-10pm Location: Riverdale Manor Menu: Assorted Appetizers, Mulled Cider and Citrus Punch Theme: Masquerade Ball with ballroom dance instruction provided, dates for practice nights announced soon. Tickets: $38/person. Available for purchase starting January 9. Questions? Contact [email protected] Attire: Black Tie Optional Men: Black tie-optional refers to a dress code in which a tuxedo/dinner jacket (black tie) is requested, but guests have the option to wear a dark business suit if they so choose. Women: As far as women are concerned, there's no difference between black-tie attire and black-tie option attire. The "optional" part comes in for the men. Apart from white tie attire, black tie is the most formal of all dress codes. As such, it requires a sophisticated level of dressing. A black-tie dress code is a great excuse to get glammed up and wear a gown. While knee length cocktail dresses can be an appropriate option for black tie, long dresses tend to be a more elevated choice. For our event, if you don’t own a gown, don’t panic! A simple black dress with a few “glam” accessories will work. Selecting a refined dress that features a simple and a modest feminine silhouette and an elegant color, such as black, will help you nail the etiquette of this dress code Do your best to choose a quality dress with a timeless appeal. A sophisticated function, such as one that calls for black-tie attire, is not a place to wear cheap designs or the latest crazy trends. Instead, stick to classic silhouettes and styles that won’t date. (parts of this are taken from www.thetrendspotter.net) Ladies, please remember that we are to dress ourselves in a manner worthy of respect. We should dress modestly not to hide our bodies but to reveal our dignity! As Christians living in community this translates practically to wearing knee length or longer gowns, no low cut necklines, bare backs, cutouts, or anything else that would distract from your honor as woman. .

  • Craft Sportswear and the Finnish National Biathlon Team Launches ‘Hannunvaakuna’ Racing Suit
Dec 03, 2015 08:00 CET Craft Sportswear and the Finnish national biathlon team launches ‘hannunvaakuna’ racing suit The collaboration between Swedish sportswear brand Craft and the Finnish national biathlon team has resulted in highly functional race garments with a truly strong presence. The new competition wear will be worn by Kaisa Mäkäräinen and her colleagues on the Finnish team during the 2015/2016 season. "We looked for something that would really set the suit apart from the competition," says Craft's designer Lena Karlsson. "Soon we came up with the 'hannunvaakuna', the looped square that is a common symbol in Finland and that conveys strength and good luck. Placing the patterns in lines that follow the moving body, we have created a suit that truly radiates speed and power." The new Finland Biathlon competition garments are based on Craft's revolutionary Podium Suit, which has been equipped with biathlon-specific details such as smooth rubber patches in certain areas to ensure steady and precise shooting. Made of very thin and lightweight Italian polyester, the suit offers superior moisture transport and body-temperature management. In addition, compression fabrics in the legs keep the muscles focused while ultrasonic taped seams create a smooth surface for optimal aerodynamics. The suit is packed with innovative features including Moving Wing Technology ™, which is a wing-like construction piece at the upper back that ensures total freedom of movement and allows the skiers to transmit all their power into each pole stroke. Furthermore, three-dimensional ergonomic design provides perfect fit and optimal comfort. Craft is a Swedish brand specializing in clothing for endurance sports where performance and comfort are crucial for a good result.

Hamlet: Laertes, a young lord Dashing in a velvet cloak and cap, a richly textured houndstooth doublet (jacket) and breeches (calf length trousers). Cap is decorated with ostrich plumes, often placed on the left side of the cap leaving the right sword arm free to fight. A sword was an essential part of a gentlemen’s dress in the 17th century. Hamlet: In this 2007 production of Hamlet, the costumes were made from silk and wool fabrics in the shades of pale grey. In contrast, the main character, Hamlet, wore both a black and a scarlet suede doublet and breeches. The ladies were dressed in long sumptous gowns with corsets and padded petticoats. Sword fighting and scheming was afoot under the stars on the magical outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Stage. Familiar: Anne, eccentric aunt from Zimbabwe Costumed in grand style in a long colorful floral cotton skirt, blouse with large sleeve ruffles, and matching headdress.
