The janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the building throughout the plant in which they work by performing various cleaning duties. The janitor is may be responsible for any of all of the following tasks. Tasks may also change throughout a janitor’s employment. The Janitor provides the cleaning and upkeep of all assigned areas including the following task: Job Responsibilities: Note: This is not an all-inclusive list. Additional duties may be assigned. Restrooms: Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops toilets, mirrors, floors, etc. Replenished bathroom supplies. Polishes metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings. Floors: Sweep, mop, vacuum floors using brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners. Other floor work may be required such as: scrubbing, waxing, and polishing. Break rooms/Kitchenettes: Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops, tables, chairs, refrigerators, etc. Replenished break room supplies. Dust: Dust furniture, desks, shelves, equipment, partitions, etc. Trash: Empties wastebaskets and recyclables and transports to disposal area. Other duties: Clean tables in conference rooms, clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using vacuum cleaner (hip or backpack), clean elevator, clean drinking fountains, dust partitions, cabinets and vents. Wash walls and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, partitions, sills, etc. Requirements: High School Degree or GED • English speaking • Report to work on time every day. • Work extra hours as needed. • Must comply with proper safety policies and procedures as required. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Using chemicals or cleaning solutions to perform duties • Lifting 35-50 lbs in weight • Pushing/pulling 35-75 lbs • Bending to pick up items from the floor or to wipe down surfaces as necessary to keep the floor area clean of debris • Walking and standing for long periods of time 6-8 hours per shift • Climbing • Bending forward, kneeling down • Crawling • Wearing a hip/backpack vacuum .
