Hundreds of Spanish Students Went to the High School Wearing Skirts to Fight Against Stereotypes CLARA NAVARRO 2ºA

On October 27th, a video of Mikel, a young boy from Bilbao, went viral on the social network TikTok. In the video, he explained how he had been rejected by his classmates and teachers when he went to school wearing a skirt. A teacher even insisted that he should go to the school psychologist just because of the way he was dressed. When students from all regions of heard this news, they quickly created a viral movement against these prejudices. All of them wore skirts on November 4th to normalize the fact that clothes have no gender, and support Mikel´s feminist and antihomophobic initiative. And there it was, hundreds of boys and girls went to class on the 4th proudly wearing skirts. The phenomenon was that massive, that TikTok was full of videos recorded in the hallways of high schools where these brave students were seen in their skirts. Even many teachers of both genders have joined this initiative, and several schools decided to publish photos of their students dressed in the same way on their social networks. Mikel's story has crossed borders, and some students from other countries, such as Canada, have accepted this ‘challenge’. On the 4th, they shared on their Instagram accounts photos of themselves wearing skirts, and they also sent supporting messages to all those who have suffered bullying because of the way they like to dress. In my opinion, these kinds of revolutionary acts are totally necessary nowadays to raise awareness and normalize that the way of dressing, like so many other things, does not depend on gender. Furthermore, it is our responsibility as young people to defend the rights of others and prevent people like Mikel's teacher from thinking that expressing our tastes or personality is wrong; because these comments and behaviors repress our true identity, which is marvelous, just because beauty resides in the diversity. MARADONA’S DEATH César Ortiz López. 4ºA.

This year, 2020, has left the world with too much bad news, such as: Kobe Bryant’s death, the Coronavirus, George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement, the natural disasters that have happened all around the world, the bad economic situation of all the countries. And the individual problems people have in their lives, like money problems, the death of a family member or friend, or many other things. I think this year is bad, maybe not for everyone, but for most of the world yes. I know that the year hasn’t finished yet and more things can still happen whether good or bad, but the world has suffered another loss that has taken a lot of people around the world by surprise – the death of Maradona.

This news broke very recently, on the 25th November in fact. Maradona, one of the best football players in the world, died days after being operated on for a cerebral hematoma at the age of 60 years old, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He died in his house, due to a heart failure that was caused by the consumption of drugs for so many years. A lot of people feel sad about his death, because they think he was the best football player in the history of football. One day after his death, more than one million people (I think they were all Argentinian) gave him a tribute. The people were passing one by one and touching the coffin like a form of respect and saying goodbye. Maradona’s death did not only affect the people of Argentina, but the suffering spread all over the world, because a lot of people like him.

Maradona will be remembered as one of, or the best football players in history for his amazing goals and his brilliant form of playing.

We will always remember you, Maradona.

Instagramers around the world

Raúl Casillas Alonso. 2ºBB.

If you are reading this article it is probably because you are an Instagram user. Nowadays more than one thousand million people use this social networking site for almost an hour a day. But, have you ever thought about the advantages and disadvantages?

On the one hand, we can meet many people from any part of the world and we can extend our social relationships. In addition, Instagram allows you to spend time watching videos, liking photos, and discovering new things. Also, the companies which have an Instagram profile can benefit as their products and services reach more individuals very quickly.

On the other hand, this networking site can be very addictive for many people who spend too many hours during the day looking at it. Moreover, Instagram’s filters give a fake impression of reality, and there are some people who feel depressed because they think that they are not good enough. If you publish a post in real time, you are giving information which can be used against you, causing a lack of privacy. Also the companies can have drawbacks and their image can be damaged.

In conclusion, I believe that we can take advantage of Instagram but taking into account its risks. Have you considered its advantages and disadvantages?

DANCE

Sandra Becerra 3D

Dance is the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, with the purpose of expressing an idea or emotions with its moves. Dance is a powerful impulse, but the art of dance is that impulse danced by skilful performers into something that becomes intensely expressive and that may be liked by the spectators. Dance may also be defined as: self-expression and physical release. There are a lot of types of dances to express our emotions like: contemporary, ballet, hip-hop/street dance/urban dance, aerial dance. The dance is a way of communicating with people either because you are sad or happy, depending on your moves and of course the expression of your face you are going to express that you are sad, happy, or mad. Dancers are not just performing artists; their bodies are also the instruments through which the art is created. The quality of this art therefore, necessarily depends on the physical qualities and skills that dancers possess.

Itziar Carbonell Torrijos. 1ºP

Japan is a small country located along East Asia’s Pacific coast. Its capital is Tokyo, and the largest mountain in Japan is Mount Fuji. In Japan there are several temples of different shapes and sizes, which represents their religion.

Japan has a total of 47 cities, one of the most well known cities is Tokyo because it is: the capital, where most people live, and one of the largest cities in Japan.

In Japanese folklore there are spirits called yokai. One of the most important spirits are kitsune foxes, or nine-tailed foxes, that according to legends is the spirit that protects the forests of Japan.

FOOD IN JAPAN

In Japan there are many different types of delicious and very exotic meals, but some of the most famous Japanese dishes are sushi and ramen.

Ramen is a type of soup that is usually prepared with rice noodles, beef, eggs , vegetables and sometimes seaweed.

GEISHAS AND SAMURAIS

GEISHAS In Japan geishas are the representation of beauty and respect, and many years ago were seen as very important women. In the past, geishas were women who went to banquets hosted by royalty or important people, and would dance, sing, and play musical instruments.

SAMURAIS

In ancient times the samurai were a symbol of protection and war, practically in charge of protecting the Kings and the civilians. People had respect for them, but over the years they have become less important.

THE

Nu-metal is a music genre that originated in the middle of the 90’s, with bands like Korn and Desftones. It is defined as a music genre that is a mix of: metal, rap, and sometimes pop.

This genre was born thanks to bands like Rase Against the Machine, that mix rap and metal, and Pantera for its raw and direct sound.

INSTRUMENTS

VOICES

Nu-metal uses a big repertoire of iconic singers. It is very characteristic of this genre that the singers have great voices, and they scream a lot, but they are also melodic. For example, Chester Bennington, a singer from the band Linkin Park. Some Nu-metal singers also rap, like Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit).

Stand out musicians: Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Amy Lee (Evanescence), and Serj Tankian (System of a Down). GUITARS

Guitars are heavily distorted and tuned to very low pitches. In general, there are not guitar solos, which is one difference from Heavy Metal.

Stand out musicians: Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), Daron Malakian (System of a Down), and Mick Thompson (Slipknot)

BASS

The Nu-metal bassists use techniques from jazz, funk metal and progressive metal. The bass has got a lot of powerful dominance and it sounds louder than the guitar in a lot of songs. Sometimes, they use five- string basses to get lower sounds.

Stand out: Fieldy (Korn), Jon Moyer (Disturbed) and Traa Daniels (P.O.D.).

DRUMS

Drums tend to have hip hop sounds, and sometimes, the drums sound like a rap beat. Very compressed sounds are often used.

Stand out musicians: Abe Cunningham () and David Silveria (Korn). MIXING TABLES

They play a very important role in a lot of bands.

Stand out musicians: DJ Lethal (Limp Bizkit), Joe Hahn (Linkin Park) and Sid Wilson (Slipknot)

TODAY….

This genre was in its prime between mid-90’s and mid 2000’s. Some bands are still making great songs, but the genre was more popular in the past.

SONGS

Some very good songs from this genre are:

 In the end, by Linkin Park  Break Stuff, by LImp Bizkit  Psichosocial, by Slipknot  Last Resort, by Papa Roach  Freak on a Leas, by Korn  Chop Suey, by System of a Down  Bodies, by Drowning Pool

Don’t forget to go listen to them!

BRAZO DE GITANO FOR CHRISTMAS

CLARA FLECHA

Now that Christmas is coming, we all get nervous about preparing dinner for our relatives and friends. If you want to surprise them, but aren’t really good at cooking, here is a sweet and easy Thermomix recipe that is quick to prepare and everyone will love.

Ingredients:

For the cake:

 4 eggs  120g of sugar  1 teaspoonful of vanilla sugar  120g of pastry flour  Salt  Butter (just to grease the mould)

For the filling (this is chocolate custard cream, but can be filled with any cream you like!):

 500ml of milk  50g of pastry flour  2 eggs  2 egg yolks  1 teaspoonful of vanilla sugar  70g of sugar  30g of powder cocoa

Recipe:

Firstly, preheat the oven to 180ºc. Then, in a butterfly mixer, add the eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar. Beat everything for 6 minutes/37ºC/speed 4. When the timer goes off, beat again with no temperature at 6min/speed 4. Then, add the flour and a pinch of salt. Mix 4 seconds/speed 3. Take out the butterfly whisk and use a wooden spoon to make sure everything is well mixed. If you see thick lumps mix again for some more seconds until they disappear. Now, pour the dough in a big squared mould (I recommend using a very big mould, this way, the cake won’t grow, and it will be easy to manipulate later). Put the mould in the oven and bake for 10 minutes at 180ºc.

While waiting, prepare the chocolate custard cream. Add all the ingredients (eggs, egg yolks, milk, pastry flour, vanilla sugar, sugar and powder cocoa) and mix 7 min/90ºC/speed 4. Then, with no temperature, mix again 5 sec/speed 10.

When the cake has finished baking, take it out of the oven and unmould over an aluminum foil previously dusted with powdered sugar. Moisten it with brandy or, if you prefer, milk or syrup. (I highly recommend using brandy, I tried other combinations but this is definitely the best one). Use enough brandy to get all the cake slightly wet but not too much as to make it impossible to fold or manipulate. Then, fill with the chocolate custard cream and roll it up. It is very important to make sure the cream is cold, if it is not, wait until it is.

I hope you all enjoy baking and I’m sure you will enjoy eating it even more!

INTRODUCTION

During adolescence, lots of important changes happen. The most outstanding thing is that body growth is accelerated, at this phase we adopt 50% of the final weight and 25% of the height is acquired.

This gives us an idea of how important proper growth and development really is. This is the time to establish healthy habits that will continue into adulthood.

Living outside the home with friends encourages adopting unhealthy habits such as: the consumption of sugary drinks, fast food, or pre-cooked dishes, and the most frequent nutritional errors.

It is in this phase where we begin to take on unhealthy habits like the consumption of tobacco, alcohol, and other substances.

BALANCED FOOD

A healthy diet is balanced, for this some requirements are followed:

 Proteins should be 10% or 15% of total calories and those of animal origin should predominate.  Fat represents 30% of total calories and cholesterol should not exceed 300mg / day.  Carbohydrates represents 55-60% of total calories, it is advisable to be in the form of carbohydrates.  Vitamins and minerals, the needs of both at this stage are greater than in childhood.

It's a small pet, similar in size to a chihuahua. It is a carnivorous Mammal, which comes from the fox family, native to the Sahara desert.

Do you like amphibians and aquarium animals? If so, the axolotl is the perfect pet for you. Axolotls are amphibians originally from Mexico, and they can be either pink or black. They eat little fish, insect larvae, earthworms, snails, and other little water animals. They need a big aquarium, if you have more than one axolotl the aquarium needs to be even bigger. It is, El rubius

Exactly, el Rubius is the most followed in Spain. Now, let's look at some things about el rubius.

Rubén Doblas Gundersen, better known as “El Rubius" or "Rubius", is a video producer on YouTube and a streamer on Twitch.

He was born in Malaga, in the town Mijas in 1990. His father is Spanish, and his mother is Norwegian, and so he has dual nationality as Spanish- Norwegian.

El Rubius uploaded his first video to YouTube in 2006. From then until 2011 he dedicated himself to uploading content to YouTube sporadically.

In March 2014, Rubén surpassed six million subscribers and celebrated it at DJ Skrillex’s concert in Barcelona. In February 2015, he became the first Spanish channel to ever reach ten million subscribers. In October 2015, YouTube organized a gala to commemorate its 10th anniversary, where Rubius and another Spanish youtuber, Vegetta777, received the "Diamond Button” award (which is awarded to channels with more than ten million subscribers). LIGHTS AND SHADOWS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. Miguel Magro Moreno1ºB

We are immersed in a technological maelstrom, an unbridled race to a digitized and unknown world that often escapes our senses. Everything happens so fast that updates and improvements generate fierce competition among software developers, users being mere spectators of an uncontrolled vehicle that moves without brakes and at full speed. Without any doubts, their challenge is to capture information and use the data of each and every one of us to achieve commercial purposes. Whoever manages this colossal source of information (bigdata),will engulf their adversaries.

Artificial Intelligence is the tool needed to handle such a huge amount of data. Mathematical algorithms and programs are capable of thinking and acting intelligently. The machine revolution has arrived... Today, the leading role is held by large technology companies that have achieved capitalizations with many zeros out of nowhere without having a base structure to rely on. Are they comparable to a cement company, a power plant, or a factory that manufactures cars? Obviously not, but its potential is greater. Its starting raw material is not the oil or the steel it consumes, rather we are each and everyone registered and who gives a like to any publication. The algorithm will do the rest and the monster will grow exponentially. What would a company like Facebook be like with one, two, or three users? The answer is simple: it would not exist. They achieve the boom by converting that first user into two new users, and so on. However, when that company converts that one, two, or three individuals into one, two, or three billion individuals, the situation changes; in this way, having millions of potential consumers, that if we can know what they are thinking, what their tastes are, their age, their religious ideals ... they will be able to send them the most succulent advertising offers through the different options out there.

As we have mentioned, the concept of artificial intelligence emerges, based on calculation algorithms, capable of analyzing an infinity of variables, and, in turn, capable of giving the individuals that make up that sample, what the market is demanding at that time. You have to be careful with data privacy. These companies even exalt each other and therefore will be able to create a monopoly market, in such a way that everything remains in the hands of many few companies, for which we remain subject to the designs that they mark us. "What we all have to do is make sure that we are using artificial intelligence (AI) in a way that is to the benefit of humanity, not to the detriment of humanity." Tim Cook, current CEO of Apple Inc.

LA CODOSERA

Nuria Casado antos 4C

I'm going to tell you about a legend that happened in my village, La Codosera.

It is located in the northwest of the province of Badajoz, near the border with Portugal. Most of the population there speaks two languages because they usually have family in Portuguse villages, causing the Portuguese and Spanish languages to mix. A curious fact about the La Codosera is that it has the smallest border bridge in the world. This village has many myths and legends. I will explain what happened in the house you can see in the picture.

This house is situated on a small road to Portugal. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and was habited by a family that experienced strange events during their stay, like moving objects without anyone touching them.

Maria, the youngest daughter, used to go to the fountain to refill her jar. One day, when she left the jar in the kitchen sink, all the water spilled out of it and then it returned to its original position.

But the strangest event was experienced by the father of the family, Manuel. One day he was riding his horse past the house with the intention of going into the village, and suddenly the horse stopped when they reached the door of the house. When Manuel went to beat the horse to keep him going, he was slapped in the face, which was very strange because he was all alone.

The family were always incredibly careful when closing the doors and windows at night, but curiously at dawn they found all the locks unlocked and the house tossed as if someone had been doing a thorough search throughout the house.

Some people think a more rational explanation to these events is that because it was located near the border, it was a key point for contrabandists and that is why these legends were invented.

Now it is up to you to whether to believe it or not.

However, for the moment, I avoid going there.

Blacksad, a Spanish Work of Reference to European Comics

Blacksad is a work written by Juan Díaz Canales and illustrated by Juanjo Guarnido. It is a work of the noir and police genre that is based on the idea of the existence of anthropomorphic animals as normal people. This comics series have five volumes. The world in which the action takes place is in New York during the fifties. Within the comic, our detective and protagonist, John Blacksad, has to solve the cases that are handed to him in a corrupt society.

Contrary to how it may appear, it is not a comic for children, it is a novel that draws attention to society's problems, such as discrimination and racism. The idea of anthropomorphic animals enhances this idea by making the city look much wilder than it already is, and this works very well. It is a graphic novel whose plot captivates you and makes it easy to read, thanks to its great illustrations. It brings all the characteristics and clichés of the most classic police films and gives it a very characteristic touch.

Rocket League Alejo Cembellín Toral. 1ºU

We are going to find out about a game, which is not very popular, but one that I like to play. This game is called Rocket League, and since the change in company it is now free.

With the funds the new company earned, they fixed the patches and changed the games graphics. Although, the company was not known much as Psyonix.

The main characters of the game are cars, and the aim of the game is to score goals with a ball using the car, instead of as people.

“THE NOT SO DISTANT FUTURE OF THE NEW STAR WARS SERIES" BY ALEJANDRO RODRÍGUEZ- ALTO 2ºBB

Star Wars is a saga of films created by George Lucas in the 1970s. It was the first science fiction space series and it undoubtedly became a worldwide phenomenon. Star Wars has two original trilogies, but it was in 2012 when Lucas Film and its rights of the space franchise were bought by Walt Disney. Star Wars has spread into different films, television series, comic books, video games. In addition, there are many animation series today based on Star Wars and among them I’d like to highlight the following,

The mandalorian: is the most representative of all the series because it is the first real live action instead of animation. The baby yoda is the figure that stands out, not only because he is adorable but also because he reminds us of the adult Yoda from the old franchise. I’d also like to highlight that this series has more fans than

Disney movies.

Rebels: is an animation series that started at the beginning, being one of Disney’s best. Also, it had positive criticisms. This series is related to the largest series of Star Wars called ‘The Clone Wars’ through Ahsoka Tano.

The Clone Wars: without a doubt, is the most watched series of the saga. It is also the only series that has been produced by George Lucas. He bet for the animation of the series for the first time.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: is another Star Wars series that will begin production by the year 2021. Until recently, it was a rumour, but today it was confirmed that this series will be live action, much like ‘The Mandalorian’. It will be a unique season series with a maximum of six episodes.

All things considered, perhaps it is time for all of us to think that Star Wars still has a lot of fight, and it is not out of fashion.

THE DISCOVERY OF A NEW PLANET

In October 2020, an unexpected planet was discovered by Lyan Dubi from New Delhi.

According to different sources of information, the planet has few inhabitants and most of them are aliens which have never been seen before. Also, a new species has been discovered, they are animals like dogs, whose skin is green. It has been said that they feed themselves with oxygen particles since their planet does not have any water (h2o).

It all started on October 16th, when Lyan alerted the NASA station about his premonition. Therefore, they decided to send robots to check if his theory was correct.

According to Lyan, he had been studying the planet for about 5 months.

The planet was small and similar to Saturn because of its rings.

With regards to living on the planet, they still have not sent any humans there in case they come into any harm, but they assured that if progress is made, they will send some astronauts in 6 months’ time.

Lyan justifies his theory with the following picture, he confirms that the planet will look like this:

In conclusion, if this planet really does exist, it will be included with the eight current planets that already exist.
