The new species is closely allied to P. fischeri, fro� w�ic� it differs by the narrow leaves, the pale rose to white flowers, the elliptic to obovate petals with reflexed margins, the reflexed margin of the dorsal sepal, the narrower and pale rose lip, and the longer than broad and bifid sta�inode� RESUMEN� �e descri�e y se il�stra la n�eva especie Phragmipedium andreettae, de la re�ión noroccidental de Ecuador, y se discuten sus afinidades. La nueva especie está estrechamente relacionada con P. fischeri, de la cual difiere por las hojas más angostas, las flores rosado pálido a blanco, los pétalos elípticos a obovados con márgenes reflexos, el margen reflexo del sépalo dorsal, el labelo rosado pálido más angosto y el estaminodio más largo que ancho y bífido en el ápice. The type plant was flowered species� The exact number �ay well lie so�ew�ere in c�ltivation in t�e collection of �c�a�enera of between these figures. Several of these have recently G�alaceo, �c�ador, and t�e type �as �een deposited �een descri�ed as new to science, incl�din� two, t�e in the National Herbarium in Quito. It is na�ed in red-flowered P. besseae Dodson & J.Kuhn from Peru �ono�r of �adre �ndreetta, t�e �alesian priest w�o �as and Ecuador and the rose-purple flowered P. kovachii �ad a life-lon� interest in orc�ids and w�o inspired t�e J.T.Atwood, Dalström & Ric.Fernández from Peru, �ortilla fa�ily in t�e fo�ndation and develop�ent of t�at are very distinct fro� any of t�e ot�er species� �c�a�enera� The discovery of yet anot�er species in �c�ador is, Phragmipedium andreettae P.J.Cribb & Pupulin, t�erefore, not t�at s�rprising. sp. nova A small-flowered species, allied to P. schlimii (Rchb.f�) Rolfe and P. fischeri Braem & H.Mohr, has Species affinis Phragmipedio fischeri Brae� et H. recently �een collected in nort�western �c�ador in t�e Mo�r sed foliis angustioribus, 1.2-2 cm latis (2.5-3 sa�e re�ion w�ere P. fischeri was discovered a decade cm latis in P. fischeri), floribus pallide roseis vel albis, 2 LANKESTERIANA Vol. 6, Nº 1 petalis ellipticis vel obovatis marginibus reflexis, sepalo surfaces; synsepal similar in shape, shorter than the dorsali margine reflexo, labello angustiore, 1.2-1.4 cm lip, 2-2�2 x 1�6-2 c�, �i-�eeled on reverse, �ar�ins diametro (1.5-1.7 cm diametro in P. fischeri) pallido reflexed. Petals elliptic to o�ovate, ro�nded, 2�4 x roseo, staminodio longiore quam latiore obtrullato ad 1.6 cm, margins reflexed, finely white pubescent on apicem minute bifido distinguendo� inner s�rface� Lip urceolate, 2.1 x 1.2-1.4 cm, finely pubescent on outside; side margins incurved, more �YPE: N� �c�ador, sine prov., hort. �c�a�enera, so at t�e �ase, �airy wit�in and wit�o�t� Column 0�6 November 2005, Portilla s.n.
