$3.75M investment by city of Norfolk. Construction started Jan 2013 with completion Sept 2013. 3500 sq. ft. transitional building with views of downtown and track side. New Station floor level raised to existing track platform height. Protected for future ticket sales, expansion of baggage claim area. Plans include multi use for off-sites outside of train hours. Information area, restrooms, bike racks, vending, safety and security. Parking includes protection for various bus and hotel shuttles, drop off pick up areas, taxi stands, Amtrak “Thruway” bus service. On-site Car rental and bike rental capability being investigated. Walkable to light rail Harbor Park Station and connects to the Elizabeth River Trail. Public Artist selected to design and develop and connect Harbor Park attributes. ADA compliant with manual wheelchair lift to assist loading on train cars. Compressed Natural Gas Site relocated from Harbor Park to Lance Rd off Military highway for more central access and use- operated by VNG

Temporary Station at south east corner of Lot “D”. Staffed by DNC ambassadors to support arrival and departing patrons and questions – Amtrak will staff in late April/May. Amtrak “Thruway” bus stop services Newport News, Virginia Beach and Norfolk and very popular mix/match of travel within the region. Free overnight parking in Harbor Park for Amtrak patrons. Safety and Security – 24/7 with no major incidents offering a positive total travel experience. Tickets not sold at Harbor Park - available on line at Amtrakvirginia.com, or 1-800-USA- Rail or various mobile devices 2 week advance booking offers best rates. Tickets can be purchased one-way or round trip. Amtrak Guest Rewards Program. 1-800-USA–Rail can also be used to check train schedule status.
