Über die Jahre ist aus dem Sponsoring eine echte Partnerschaft geworden, von der beide Seiten profitieren. Von der gemeinsamen Aktion zum Gewässerschutz profitiert auch die Umwelt. Zur Erinnerung: Auf der Boot, der weltgrößten Wassersportmesse, begann mit einem Gemeinschaftsstand eine Aktion, die Kanuverband, Ruderverband, Sporttaucher, Segelverband, Messe Düsseldorf und Kunst- stofferzeuger weiter entwickelten. Inzwischen wird auch der Müll- und Abfallsammelsack, kurz MUSS, hinter dem Kanuten, Ruderer und Team Kunststoff stehen, immer wieder in die Aktion Dr. Michael Zobel einbezogen, sorgt so für sauberere Gewässer, vor allem aber für mehr Umweltbewusstsein. Dahinter stehen lange Trainingstage, manche Quälerei, Entbehrungen, Eltern, die den Traum ihrer Kinder von einer Sportkarriere unterstützen, Trainerinnen und Trainer, die sich engagieren, ein Verband, der es immer wieder schafft, die nötigen Strukturen auf die Beine zu stellen, und das Daumendrücken der Fans nicht nur aus Deutschland.
