Family Day Agenda - Family 1:00 PM Family Arrival at The Barn It is an important part of treatment at Stonewater that rules be respected. For this reason, please note that families must arrive on time to participate in Family Day. If there is an unforeseen delay, you must call the clinical staff on duty at 662-371-5460 as far in advance as possible. Families arriving after 1:00 PM will not be allowed on campus without prior staff approval. We ask that families who arrive early wait in their vehicle until doors open at 12:45 PM. Please understand that this is an important element of our treatment program for the entire family and we cannot bend the rules. 1:00 PM Welcome to Stonewater! One of our Stonewater therapists will discuss the day’s agenda, activities, and guidelines. 1:15 PM Family Education/Group Program The family program will rotate from week to week. On the first Family Day of each month, the program will be an addiction education event led by one of our therapists. On the second monthly Family Day, a therapist will lead a family therapy group. The family is required to participate in this group therapy session. (No children under the age of 12 are allowed to participate in family therapy group without prior approval from the therapist.) 2:15 PM Fellowship and Structured Family Activity We’ll begin the time as a group with a “progress report” from each of the guys to update you on how they’ve been doing and any other details they’d like to share. You will then be able to take some time to get outside (weather permitting) and spend time together with your child, the Stonewater team and other families. Whether it’s board games or frisbee, we challenge you to engage as much as possible in healthy fun with the other Family Day participants! 3:45 PM Family Day Wrap-Up At this time, we’ll ask you to make your way to the Stonewater shuttle for one last hug and goodbye...until the next Family Day! 4:00 PM Family Day Process Group Back at The Barn, we will have a brief session to review and process the day’s events. Each family will share highlights or challenges from their time with family and support each other as a group following the emotions and excitement of the day. Highlights of Family Day: ➢ Group processing and education with other Stonewater families ➢ Relationship building with other Stonewater families ➢ Opportunity to hear all patients share personal updates with the group ➢ Connection and interaction with the Stonewater team ➢ Healthy time with your son in a safe environment with an opportunity for guidance or intervention if a visit becomes strained or difficult ➢ Insight into some of the places and activities in which your son is spending his time, thereby allowing you to share in his experiences Family Day Rules and Guidelines: 1. All families must arrive on time. Any family arriving after 1:00 PM must receive special permission from the Stonewater Clinical Team prior to arrival to participate in Family Day. 2. Please remember that we are working with a group of adolescent boys and, as such, clothing choices are important. Skirts and shorts should be knee-length and female visitors should avoid low-cut, see-through or cropped tops. Please avoid any clothing which is tight-fitting or suggestive. 3. Any clothes or presents must be approved by the patient’s therapist before being given to the child. 4. Families should not isolate themselves from the group or staff view. Private conversations can often turn into manipulation or unhealthy dialogue, so our staff is trained to ensure these interactions remain healthy and productive. 5. Participation in all education and group activities is required. 6. No children under the age of 12 are allowed at Family Day without the consent of the patient’s therapist. 7. If your child has requested items for his personal needs, be sure to speak with his therapist before bringing any of these items. 8. No items can be passed directly to patients. All items must be given to staff upon arrival to Family Day. This includes letters. 9. All cell phones, tablets, etc. must be left in the car. Please note that they will not be allowed on campus. 10. Family Day participants are required to be drug and alcohol-free. If Stonewater staff suspects any participant is intoxicated or under the influence of a substance, he/she may be asked to leave or submit to a drug/alcohol test. 11. Please park at The Barn. If you need assistance accessing the building due to a physical disability, please alert a Stonewater staff member so that we can support any of your family needs. 12. Stonewater is a smoke-free facility. This includes families and staff. Please note that you are not allowed to smoke tobacco, chew tobacco or vape while on the property. 13. If at any time the visit becomes a challenge for your family, a therapist will intervene and work to get things back on track. If that cannot be accomplished, the family may be asked to leave immediately. In the case that your family is asked to leave Family Day, a therapist will call later to help you process and understand the event. 14. The lake and pier are off-limits unless otherwise approved during Family Day. .
