Princess Napoleon Ladies and gentlemen, dear Phalerist friends, It is a great pleasure for me to be able to invite you again to Paris for the XIV European Conference of Phaleristics Societies! We thought we would meet again in May 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic decided otherwise. My heart goes out to all your relatives and friends who have suffered from this terrible virus. Naturally, you are all asking yourselves the question: will we be able to meet with around 150 people in complete safety? I can assure you: we are taking all the necessary steps to ensure that this event, which we are all looking forward to, is not spoiled. Barrier gestures will be respected; measures will be taken during our meals and other meetings so that a certain distance is respected, without harming the traditional conviviality of our meetings; and of course, we will strictly respect all the measures that will be required on this date by the French authorities. Our XIV Conference must be both an occasion to show the pleasure of meeting again, and a moment to share knowledge and discoveries. We have built a programme that puts the collector at the center of our meeting. But we are also convinced that bringing together collectors, museum curators and chancellery representatives will enrich our exchanges. We look forward to seeing you!     PRESS RELEASE COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT Dassault Aviation becomes a Patron of the Order of Liberation (Saint-Cloud, France, June 18, 2020) - Eighty years after General de Gaulle’s appeal of 18 June, Dassault Aviation is proud and honored to support the French Order of Liberation. To officialize this patronage, a meeting was held today at the Chancellery of the Order of Liberation, between General Christian Baptiste, national delegate of the Order, and Eric Trappier, Dassault Aviation Chairman and CEO. On June 18, 1940 General de Gaulle broadcast his call to resistance after France was left destroyed and defeated. He continued the fight and restored the honor of our nation by placing it in the winning camp. As of 1958, he went on to achieve tremendous progress, notably in the areas of the constitution, economy, diplomacy and defense. On November 16, 1940 General de Gaulle created the Order of Liberation to reward individuals or military and civilian groups (Companions) for their distinguished deeds in the liberation of France. Today, the Order pursues the mission of developing the spirit of Defense through the achievements of French Liberation Companions and Resistance Medal awardees. There are many similarities between De Gaulle's work and Dassault Aviation, and although the years and generations pass, they remain firmly rooted in the identity of our company, our management and our teams. Marcel Dassault was an engineer, an aviation genus, detained with his family and deported because he refused to collaborate with the occupying regime. After the war, he took the name Dassault, the alias given in the Resistance to his brother, General Paul Bloch; Paul Bloch was appointed Grand Chancellor of the Legion of Honor by De Gaulle in 1946.

Photostats were substituted for some original documents that John Eisenhower retained for his personal collection. As a preservation measure the documents were removed from the deteriorating acetate sleeves and rehoused in acid-free boxes and folders.

A few very minor edge nicks, original ribbon, lovely toning and nearly extremely fi ne, with original cardboard box of issue and as such rare. $5,000 Joshua White, labourer, served with the 5th Foot (Northumberland Foot) from 5 March 1808 to 24 March 1815 and then, while serving at Quebec in Canada, he transferred to the 103rd Regiment of Foot. Only 39 bars for Fuentes D'Onor awarded to 5th Foot and is the scarcest bar to the unit. The Duke of Wellington referred to the 5th Foot as 'The ever-fi ghting, often tired, but never-failing fi fth'. They were also referred to as 'Wellington's 4363* Bodyguard' because he always liked them to be close at hand. Another of the unit's nicknames is 'The Fighting Fifth'.
