Songs and Hymns Celebrating Names and Titles of Jesus Christ Selected by Dr Appendix 3. Songs and Hymns Celebrating Names and Titles of Jesus Christ Selected by Dr. Ralph F. Wilson, Author of the JesusWalk Bible Study Series www.jesuswalk.com as part of Names and Titles of Jesus (JesusWalk Publications, 2016), www.jesuswalk.com/names‐jesus/ One of the reasons for this study of the names and titles of Jesus is to know him more fully, in ways that we hadn’t explored before. To enter into this takes time in meditation and worship. Songs and hymns are ways that we use the names and character of Jesus in our worship. To help those designing worship services around the names and titles of Jesus, and to facilitate personal worship, I have tried to include some of the most popular hymns and songs that I could find among the tens of thousands in the CCLI Song Select and Cyber Hymnal databases. I’ve looked for songs that actually include names and titles somewhat prominently, though that is a judgment call. These are included at the end of every lesson, and for all lessons in Appendix 3 available online. Special thanks in compiling these lists to: Brittney Land, David Pabalate, Darrel Fink, and Jonathan Fink. If you’d like to learn some of these songs, you’ll probably find one or more of them by searching on YouTube.com. It’s a great sing‐along resource for your personal devotions and will help you learn the songs. Many songs relate more to the names and titles of God, rather than Jesus. Here, we’re focusing on the songs that relate more to Jesus. Songs that focus on God the Father can be found in my companion volume, Names and Titles of God (JesusWalk, 2010). 1. Jesus the Nazarene Carpenter’s Son Key titles in this lesson include: Jesus, son of Mary, Child, Carpenter, Jesus of Nazareth, and Nazarene. In this lesson’s list are also some more general songs that contain a number of names and titles. I can feel the fiery warmth of the fall colors in the trees along the ridge of the Alps. And, I can taste the pure vanilla of the fresh white morning snow. Is there something that can be called too beautiful? Am I close to sensory overload? Before me is Lake Brienz whose blue-green waters seem so vast, so inviting, so absolutely calming. No tempest, just a tapestry of peacefulness that resonates with something deep in the core of my soul. It is so good to be here, right now, drinking in this astonishing vision..... for it has been a hard year, really, a hard season of life. So many changes, so many demands ..... I don't know when spiritual warfare has seemed as intense. Good friends are overwhelmed. Family members are facing loss and the adjustments forced with the advancing years. Maybe that's why this setting is just drawing me in. I feel like I am inhaling something much more vital than oxygen. The quiet of this place is so pronounced, so obvious, so centering. All I can hear is the rolling movement of a passenger train on the other side of the lake making its way to the wood carving village of Brienz.

Scripture is alive and powerful (Heb. 4:12), and it is useful to teach, correct, and instruct us (2 Tim. 3:16). God’s Word never returns void (Isa. 55:8-11), but sometimes it is not until later that God’s words come to mind as we need them. The Holy Spirit uses the truths we’ve stored from reading or memorization, and He helps us to apply them at just the right time. For example, Leviticus 19:10-11 speaks of business competition and even caring for the poor.

The Konkan railway line is 738 km long on India’s west coast, linking Mangalore with Mumbai, and was completed in 1998. As an engineer, Bojji oversaw the construction of many sections of the line, including the famous 424 meters long and 67 meters tall Panval Nadi Viaduct near the port city of Ratnagiri beside the Arabian Sea. During the filming, he interviewed Rajaram Bojji and together they inspected the Panval Viaduct, watching as a passenger train traversed its heights. In describing the marvel of the viaduct – the largest in all of India – Bojji in words similar to this said to Tarrant, “There must be some kind of divine spirit that makes humans imagine and do things that look impossible.” The story of the creative genius behind the Panval Viaduct introduces us to the wonders of the human imagination.
