CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLERGY AND THE CONGREGATION OF THE DIOCESE OF SYDNEY ON THE OCCASION OF THE FEAST OF EL NAYROUZ - THE COPTIC NEW YEAR - 1 TOUT, 1737AM

Congratulations to my beloved in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Clergy and the Congregation of the Diocese of Sydney on the occasion of the Feast of El Nayrouz

Our Lord JesusChrist said, according to Gospel of St Mathew, the Evangelist, 24: 9-14,” Then shall they deliver you up to be affl icted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake……… And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations”. St Augustine said: “do not fear any external enemy, control yourselves and you will conquer the whole world”. To our beloved Reverend Fathers, the Congregation of the Diocese of Sydney and all the beloved, peace, grace, blessings and love from our Lord Jesus Christ,

I would like to congratulate you on the beginning of the New Coptic Year 1737 for our Fathers the pure Martyrs. Our Fathers, the pure martyrs, exchanged with our Lord Jesus Christ, the true everlasting love, so they in turn loved Him a true everlasting love.

Our Fathers, the pure martyrs, are people who refused the temporal earthly honour resembling exactly our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Fathers, the pure martyrs, detached from everything in this world and willingly abandoned everything, similar to our Lord Jesus Christ, Who lived on earth and “had no place to lay His head”. Our Fathers, the pure martyrs, are people who endured injustice with all courage (injustice of the tyrant Herold, the king, against John, the Baptist, and injustice of tyrant Neron against the Christians when he falsely accused them of burning Rome).

Our Fathers, the pure martyrs, are people who endured numerous pain, similar to Jesus Christ, Who patiently endured the pain for their sake.

And lastly, our Fathers, the pure martyrs, are people who preached Christianity in the whole world, exactly like Jesus Christ who preached to all, when He was in the body and preaching spread in the universe through the words of His Bible.

Let’s us resemble and follow our Fathers, the pure Martyrs, and learn the true love for our Lord Jesus Christ, let’s reject the earthly temporal honour, detach from any worldly useless connections, and endure and tolerate any justice with thanks and prayers. Let’s die every day in our Lord Jesus Christ, exerting every eff ort to obtain holiness and pureness of heart to be servants preaching Christianity to others and role modelling the true Christian life. This is in order to gain a share in the Glory and Honour of our Fathers, the pure Martyrs with Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Wishing you all , a happy Feast of El Nayrouz, with peace, joy and love in the Holy Spirit, with the intercession of St Mary, the Mother of God and our Fathers, the pure Martyrs and with the prayers of HH Pope Tawadros II and his partner in the Apostolic Ministry, His Eminence Metropolitan Anba Tadros. Stay Safe and pray for me in all your prayers

PRIME MINISTER

MESSAGE FROM THE PRIME MINISTER

COPTIC NEW YEAR 2020

Greetings to all who celebrate the great New Year feast of Nayrouz.

As a longstanding friend of the Coptic Church in Australia, and the Coptic community around the world, I send you my best wishes on this day of new beginnings.

When I was last among you, I spoke of love conquering hate. This belief inspires me every day, as I know it does the people of the Coptic Church.

Your great church of more than 10 million adherents, in countries all around the world, has spread a message of love for almost 2,000 years. This message has sustained and inspired you in the face of great challenges. It is this strength of purpose that makes the Coptic community so dear to me.

At this time, I want to pass on my gratitude to your community for its support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

You have lived out your patriotism and your faith by comforting, supporting and encouraging each other.

My request to your community is to continue to do what is working: maintaining social distancing, washing your hands, downloading the COVID Safe app; and doing your share for your community and our nation – we are all in this together.

I want to assure you there will come a day – a joyous day – when people of faith can gather together and worship together without the restrictions of these times.

May this feast of Nayrouz be a time of renewal, hope and strength – and may God Bless you all.

The Hon Scott Morrison MP Prime Minister of Australia
