The Catholic Church is steeped in order. I am not National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) is a biennial talking about rules. I'm talking about a living, breathing event hosting over 20,000 Catholic teens and their teacher: the Catholic Church. Let's consider, just for one chaperones Nov. 21-24, 2019. The weekend readings Indianapolis, IN and is open to current 8th-11th graders follow a three-year plan, beginning with Advent, when we (classes of 2020-2023). More details and a registration anticipate the coming of Christ and His return, which is yet to form can be found at www.sacredheartwdm.org and in the happen! Each year we read from the Old Testament (mostly), church gathering space. NCYC Registration is due May 15! we sing or read from the Psalms, listen to an Epistle, and then a Gospel (Matthew, Mark and Luke make up the readings for the three years, with John inserted throughout for special days and celebrations). Most of the time, the readings thematically God Bless Moms fit together (this is the part I really appreciate). I have heard this called "pairings" when all of the readings speak to the same theme. The daily readings follow a two-year plan. Much of the time, they fit nicely in the larger theme of the weekly readings and the Liturgical Calendar. Some people will tell you that Catholics don't know the Bible, but after I learned about this, I had to disagree. Not only is this a brilliant plan, it makes for an absolutely perfect Bible study! If you take the time to read the readings daily, you will know our salvation story in just three years! Have you ever noticed that there are several books (not Catholic) that instruct readers with a plan to read the entire Bible in three years? That's exactly what we do! While we may not read every word or memorize each verse, we certainly know the story! Well there you have it: I was able to make a smooth transition from cleaning my garage to the Liturgical plan for daily/weekly readings in the Catholic Church! It only took me 35 years to put it into words! I challenge you to give it a try. To follow the readings, you can access the readings through apps on your phone or look in the back of your Catholic Bible, where you might find a listing of the readings for each year: A, B, and C. I keep a copy of the Magnificat in my purse, which helps me keep on top of my reading but you can find Living Faith booklets at Sacred Heart on a bookshelf in the gathering space available for a very small donation. It's worth your time. Remember, this is the greatest story ever told! Next week stay tuned when I will clean my basement and talk about the Liturgical Calendar. You are welcome!

We are looking at ways to improve the 3 H’s of the weekend, hymns, homilies and hospitality. A Catholic Woman’s Hymns: Our music director has sat down with a large Guide to Happiness contingent of the choirs to go through each song in the By Rose Sweet breaking bread book. Each song has been rated based on how well the parish knows the song. They are also working on a “singability” rating for each song. (How easy is the song to sing). Music has always been selected to match the LOW GLUTEN HOSTS ARE AVAILABLE readings from the weekend and the ratings for each song will also be considered in the hopes of more participation We have what are called low gluten hosts. Hospitality: The Pastoral Council has taken the initiative to improve hospitality. In the near future, you will see a welcome center in the gathering space. In the more distant future, we are looking at adding an electronic information board as well as greeters for weekend Masses. We are also discussing office hours and better signage outdoors as well as indoors. Do you welcome people into your pew? Do you introduce yourself to someone new? Have you invited someone to Mass?

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Divine Renovation is an ongoing initiative of taking Sacred Heart to a new level!
