Wisconsin Public Radio For Immediate Release Contact: Rick Reyer, Central Regional Manager Ph: 715-261-6391 or [email protected] Phil Corriveau, Former Director Of Wisconsin Public Radio, Passes Away Madison, Wis. – It is with great sadness that Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) announces the death of our friend and former director, Phil Corriveau. His leadership, optimism and commitment to WPR’s mission will continue to benefit listeners for years to come. Current WPR Director Mike Crane embraced that optimism when Corriveau hired him as chief operating officer in 2008. “There are so many positive things that started with Phil,” Crane said. “He set the stage for expanding our radio networks. He believed in growing our Major and Planned Giving effort. He had a vision for us reaching new audiences across the state. He was an incredibly positive force, I’m really going to miss him.” Crane said. Corriveau was a Wisconsin native who received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UW-Madison. As he told the Isthmus weekly in 2010, he discovered his love of radio as a freshman board operator working a summer job in 1971 at WPR’s flagship station, WHA. That summer job turned into a career. In 1974, Corriveau was hired as an engineer at WHA, where he continued to build his resume. From engineering, he moved into production and, by the end of the decade, he was serving as programming and production manager. In 1980, he was hired as the first general manager of what is now called Capital Public Radio in Sacramento. -

January 26, 2018 VIA Electronic Delivery Chief, Freedom of Information/Privacy Acts Office U.S. Small Business Administration 409 3rd St. SW, 8th Floor Washington, DC 20416 Re: Freedom of Information Act Records Request Dear FOIA Officer: Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (the “FOIA”), 5 U.S.C. §§ 552 et seq., and Small Business Administration (“SBA”) regulations at 13 C.F.R. pt. 102, Democracy Forward Foundation submits this request for records. Records Requested On January 25, 2018, Vince McMahon, who is married to Linda McMahon, the Administrator of 1 the SBA, announced the re-launch of the XFL, to re-debut in 2020. Mr. McMahon’s new venture follows on the heels of President Trump’s repeated criticisms of the NFL, and of its players who have chosen to protest racial inequality and police brutality by kneeling during the 2 National Anthem. XFL players would be required to stand for the National Anthem, and those 3 with criminal records, including DUIs, would not be permitted to join the league. The return of the XFL, if successful, may provide tremendous upside to the McMahons. Commentators have suggested that Mr. McMahon’s venture might benefit from “[a] few tweets and public shows of support from [President] Trump,” which “would amount to tens of millions of free advertising for the new league,” and have even gone so far as to assert that any NFL rival “would almost assuredly be backed by the full faith and credit of the most powerful Twitter 4 account in the world” as well as the President’s “bully pulpit.” 1 https://www.reuters.com/article/us-football-xfl/vince-mcmahon-announces-return-of-reimagined-xfl-in-2020-idUSK BN1FE33Z. -

Las Vegas Cowboys – 1969
THE COFFIN CORNER: Vol. 25, No. 4 (2003) LAS VEGAS COWBOYS – 1969 BY Ace Hendricks The Las Vegas Cowboys were a team that played in the fledgling Continental Football League. They lasted a total of two seasons, went from worst to first and nearly made the last championship game in league history. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, it was also a team that was starved for attention in a city that has a tough time with professional football. It was a club made up of young men eager to show their stuff and even though they were the best team in the division, never truly were given the opportunity to show all their goods. The 1969 version of the Cowboys were a totally different entity than the one which played in 1968. It was under new management, new coaching staff and, with the exception of eight players, a totally revamped roster. It was a team that made the biggest turnaround in the Continental Football League's brief history. The squad from 1968 had been somewhat of an "undesirable" team. Brought in to the ContFL following the folding of the Quad Cities Raiders, the team failed to win a home game, fielded few "big-time" players and produced very few fans. Thus, they ended the season at 1-9, with only a 14-6 victory over the Sacramento Capitols. 1969's version of the Las Vegas Cowboys finished the regular season at 8-4, tied with the Capitols for the Pacific Division lead. In a divisional playoff, the Cowboys pounded the Californians, 31-0. -
