When their license ran out, they closed down the website and the articles were lost. Many players and GM’s had been sure to collect and save the articles which were floating around on the web. My issue was that they were sometimes difficult to find. This is my effort to collect and rerelease all articles in one single document, making sure everything follow the same look as the original books. Granted, I am not entirely sure about what copyrights I will breach with this document, but as I see it I have both made sure that the original authors are properly credited, take no credit on my work and finally; all information in this document have been released on the web anyway. So to the authors, copyright holders etc… forgive my geekiness! Here’s some notes on changes and considerations I have taken; The “book” is produced with the A4 papersize standard (21x29,7cm/8.26”x11,69”), not the American 8,5”x11” standard, nor the SAGA standard (23x23cm/9”x9”). The “book” does not use 2 columns as the original books/pdf documents. Some dead links might still be present in the articles Exact layout of statblocks was difficult to follow, there’s no indentation and CL isn’t aligned to the right Deleted release date for miniature articles Deleted “coming next” comments Deleted Star Wars Miniature cards (to save space) Used the blue-box as background for new and custom rules (feats, weapons etc) Added/updated some photos, such as Mykal, Captain Dallan Morvis, Elbee (T1-LB), Arknanian Legacy, Shasa, The Last Resort & Moomo Williwaw Customizing Star Wars Minis is added for completion, it have nothing to do with the RPG. The large images were cut down for space and the formatting might not look as good as it should.   • Star Wars and the History of Transmedia Storytelling
    13. Chasing Wild Space Narrative Outsides and World-Building Frontiers in Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic Cody Mejeur As introduced in the iconic line that precedes the first film’s opening crawl, Star Wars’s galaxy far, far away is the foundation for the franchise’s world- building efforts. It is the backdrop and context for the story told by any Star Wars film, novel, game, or other text,1 and as such it functions as a narrative world or storyworld. David Herman describes a storyworld as the “mental model” of the larger world of a text, one that audiences construct from “textual cues and the inferences that they make possible.”2 In other words, the Star Wars galaxy is only partially represented by any particular text, and audiences use that partial representation to imagine how the rest of the galaxy works. However, it seems strange to call the Star Wars galaxy, itself an agglomeration of inconsistent and contested narratives, characters, and worlds, a singular storyworld. Marie-Laure Ryan’s recent conception of the narrative universe as an accumulation of storyworlds seems more apt.3 This chapter therefore explores the space of the Star Wars galaxy as a narrative universe, arguing that it renews itself and its transmedial franchise through the mystery of outside spaces. The use of these outside spaces in Star Wars suggests a new modification or addition to existing theories of narrative world-building, and draws critical attention to the ethical and political dimensions of world-building processes. A narrative universe relies on the creation of narrative space, including a dynamic process of expanding and exploring that space.

    Press Start Burden of Queer Love The Burden of Queer Love Brianna Dym University of Colorado Boulder Abstract Video games are a unique narrative and interactive experience that allow players to construct their own fantasies through play. The fantastical possibilities a video game could explore are nearly limitless. However, a game’s design often precludes certain imaginative routes, shutting down one fantasy in favour of another. Games close out possibilities through actions as small as character design (gender, race, ability) and restrict imaginative interpretations to serve a narrow audience. Game developers design play that prioritizes hypermasculine narrative experiences, and players that do not align with this identity must condition themselves to play that excludes fantasies or alternate worlds that align with their experiences. This essay explores attempts by game development studio BioWare to create video games that are inclusive of gay, lesbian, and bisexual players by writing queer romantic narrative subplots into their games. While BioWare’s attempts are certainly not malicious, they fail time and time again, game after game, to break free of the hypermasculine and heterocentric culture dominant in the gaming industry. Instead, BioWare appropriates queer experiences and construes them as a burden to the player so as not to displace the fantasies of male, heterosexual gamers.     Star Miniatures: “Rebel Storm” 1 Star Wars Miniatures: Rebel Storm Wizards of the Coast A Review By Tony Watson The new line of WoTC Star Wars miniatures offers gamers a mixed bag. On the one hand, the first set, “Rebel Storm”, offers decently sculpted and pre-painted plastic minis of some of the characters and troops that make up the Star Wars universe during the time of the Rebellion (Episodes IV - VI in movie terms), and some straightforward, if a bit simplistic, rules for combat on a man to man scale that allow you to get into the action relatively easily. On the other hand, there’s the whole collectibility aspect to the game, something I’ll get to in a bit more detail later on. The Miniatures – Rebel Storm, the first series of miniatures, comprises 60 figures, 20 each of Imperial, Rebel and Fringe. The latter are a kind of neutral class that can be added to either a Rebel or Imperial force, and are made up of characters like the bounty hunters from “Empire Strikes Back”, and various aliens, including an Ewok and a Wampa snow beast. The characters in this faction include Lando Jabba the Hutt and cult favorite Bobba Fett. The Imperial line includes lots of stormtroopers: three versions of the basic trooper, a snowtrooper, elite snow and stormtroopers, as well as a scout troopers on foot and a speeder bike. The named, unique characters for the Imperials include two versions of Vader, General Veers, Grand Moff Tarkin, Emperor Palpatine and Mara Jade (the set’s nod to the post movie trilogy universe).

However, not all Trandoshans are up to the challenge or desire to take up their stereotypical roles. Some of the less well-to-do Trandoshans find themselves on the fringes of society, doing whatever they can to scrape out an existence. Trandoshan scavengers sift through the wreckage of the Clone Wars, selling off whatever they find for a few credits. Those quick enough to cart off high-priced equipment can make a lot of credits, as long as the Republic or Separatists don't catch the looters in the act. Other scavengers specialize in less risky goods and locales. In either case, Trandoshan scavengers can be a good source for average or hard-to-find equipment in the backwaters of the galaxy. In the Star Wars Miniatures Game , the Trandoshan Scavenger is a better-than-average melee attack unit for its cost. Like all Trandoshans, the Scavenger has the ability to heal itself at the expense of movement, thereby extending its life on the battlefield.
