Good practice in civil protection for little and medium dimension towns

Objective: answer the needs of medium and little size towns in organising an effective civil protection service

Local municipalities of Val d’Enza District 7 towns - less than 10.000 inhabitants each

Bibbiano S.Ilario d’Enza S.Polo d’Enza in 2002 decided to create an Associated Civil Protection Service Val d’Enza distinctive features: •highly industrialized area •latitudinally crossed by the Via Emilia, the A1 highway and the railway •longitudinally crossed by the Enza river

Val d’Enza Associated Civil Protection Service is actually the first pilot experience in Emilia Romagna Val d’Enza Associated Civil Protection Service aims to guarantee: -integration of operational systems -stronger coordination of different actors actions -maximum clearness about different roles -communications and procedural simplifications - immediate response organization -organization of volunteers work on territory -coordination of information to citizens, so to avoid panic situations - FACING EMERGENCIES -

•Project purpose: share this good practice with other European experiences and spread it in the EU •Partners: Province of Enzekreis (Germany) City of Myslowice (Poland)

•Project output: the realization of a handbook followed by a 3 days transnational workshop PHASES

Phase 1 – Preparatory meeting First meeting among partners to build up the work group and define project details

Phase 2 – Good practice reporting Each partner produces a report on the good practice in its own territory, describing experiences with strength and weakness points PHASES

Phase 3 – Handbook realisation The 3 reports are joined, the handbook is edited and printed

Phase 4 – Transnational workshop 3 days transnational workshop participated by: delegation from each partner with their experts group of experts from Emilia Romagna Regional Administration PHASES

Phase 5 – Result dissemination Media involvement in the workshop Production of brochures and playbills Handbook diffusion to all people involved in civil protection actions, both in each partner local areas and in the whole EU Handbook and project results diffusion through the partners web sites PHASES

Phase 6 – activity management, monitoring and reporting to the EC (transversal)
