SCHEME OF STUDIES The academic aspects of the two-year Higher Secondary course are governed by the rules and regulations of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council. The Course is split into two years with two year-end examinations. As per the latest arrangements HS Final Year Examinatioins are conducted by the AHSEC while HS First Year Examinations are conducted by the College as per guidelines from AHSEC. 4.2. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION A student seeking admission to HS First Year classes in a certain academic year should have cleared the HSLC Examination under SEBA or any other equivalent examination recognised by competent authorities in the same year. Besides, the student has to comply with all norms as set by the Cachar College Admission Committee from time to time. Except the cases of reservation and official quota merit is the only criterion for admission. 5.10. GUIDELINES ON “AUS TDC CBCS REGULATIONS 2018”

5.10.1 Duration of Programme of Study: (i) Each academic year of the TDC (CBCS) programme of study shall be divided Into two semesters. The first academic year shall comprise the first and second semesters, the second academic year the third and fourth semesters and, the third academic year the fifth and sixth semesters respectively. (ii) The odd and even semesters shall consist of the period as per the Academic Calendar published by the University. (iii) Maximum duration for the completion of a TDC (CBCS) programme of study is 5 (five) years at a stretch from the date of admission (i.e., 10 (ten) consecutive End Semester Examinations) as per the "Guidelines on Determination of a Uniform Span Period within which a Student may be allowed to Qualify fora Degree" published by UGC dated October 15, 2015. This criterion shall be strictly adhered to while determining the eligibility to appear in any ESE for Arrear Paper/s, and Betterment Examination.

5.10.2 Credit Requirements: Minimum credit requirement to complete the TDC (CBCS) Honours Programme shall be 148 and that under the TDC (CBCS) General Programme shall be 132.
