Feyereisen took the loss as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre closed their opening homestand with a 4-2 mark. April 9 Lehigh Valley 5-3 W April 10 Lehigh Valley 5-2 W HEADING SET SOUTH: The first road trip of the 2018 season sends Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to Charlotte and April 11 Lehigh Valley 2-0 L Gwinnett. The RailRiders went 5-2 against the Knights last season, including a three-game series sweep at BB&T April 12 @ Charlotte 7:04 p.m. Ballpark in late July. In six games against Gwinnett, then known as the Braves, SWB went 4-2. All told, Scranton/ April 13 @ Charlotte 7:04 p.m. Wilkes-Barre posted a 42-29 record on the road last season, batting .265 with 75 of the team’s 153 home runs. Jace Peterson was designated for assignment and Shane Robinson was signed to a Major League contract before being selected from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees acquired infielder L.J. Mazzilli, son of long-time big league Lee Mazzilli, from the New York Mets in a trade and assigned him to the RailRiders roster. Mazzilli was batting .333 with a run batted in for the Las Vegas 51’s over four games prior to the trade. STRONG STARTS: The RailRiders rotation has been stout over the first six games of the season, but has yet to 2018 VS. KNIGHTS factor in a decision. The five starters have combined for a 2.48 ERA after allowing eight earned runs over 29 innings pitched. Crawford was acquired from the Cubs in the July 2016 deal for Aroldis All-Time IL Series Chapman and has played for Tampa and the Thunder in his year and a half in the Yankees system. WESTERN STANDINGS Division by two games over the Baysox. The title marked the franchise's third regular-season division championship in Team W-L PCT GB franchise history, winning the South Division in 2004 and the Western Division in 2010. This year, the Curve led the Altoona 74-66 .529 -- West for 96 of 140 games and took over sole possession of the top spot for good on August 22. The Curve won 10 of Bowie 72-68 .514 2.0 their final 16 games, including a regular-season-best five-game winning streak from August 20-24. Altoona clinched the Western Division regular-season title with a walk-off win over Harrisburg on September 4 and a loss by Bowie at Akron 69-71 .493 5.0 Richmond that afternoon. The Curve advanced to the ELCS with a three-game sweep over the Bowie Baysox in the Erie 65-75 .464 9.0 Western Division Series. (See winners box.) The award is presented each year to the player who exhibits exceptional athletic ability and exemplary sportsmanship. Past winners of this prestigious award include current Major League Baseball stars J. D. Drew, Pat Burrell, Jason Varitek, Jason Jennings and Mark Prior. > Arizona State’s Bob Horner won the inaugural award in 1978 after hitting .412 with 20 doubles and 25 RBI. Oddibe McDowell (1984) and Mike Kelly (1991) also won the award. > Dustin Pedroia was named one of five finalists for the 2004 Golden Spikes Award.
