Commodore’s Report

• I stepped up as Acting Commodore in October 2019 • Despite the many challenges of this year, we have had many successes and things to be proud of as a club. • SCA Club of the Year 2019 • SCA Partnership for Access • Tully & Canal Festival 2019 • Full courses • Top notch coach training and so much more to hear about

• We have struggled to keep a full committee in 2019 • The club has lots of ambition, but we need all sorts to make things happen. • Vision and Strategy 2020-2023 Input Evening 30th March 6pm-8pm for all ages.

• As Coach Co-ordinator and Commodore, I have been proud of all of the competitive paddlers, coaches, and many individuals who have challenged themselves in their paddling this year

• The access team worked with the SCA to provide taster sessions for people with various disabilities last year.

• We worked with the MS Society and Scottish Disability Sport to provide and raise the awareness of sports in these communities.

• Forth where 1 of 4 clubs who where asked to take part in this to make Paddlesports more accessible and ASN friendly.

Courses

• We had 7 Paddle Discover Courses with a Total of 48 participants • We took 3 learners through Paddle Explore • We had 128 children and teens on our summer courses • We had 3-8 children or young people in each GP or discipline specific class

We have some lovely new polo goals to be put up at the boat house!

So if you want to come along get in touch with Poppy as Polo training will be starting up again in April!

We are planning to attend Summer competitions around the UK this year.

16 Forth Canoe Club Paddling in the Heart of Edinburgh Pool Sessions So far this Winter the Juniors have been showing the Adults how it’s down in terms of their commitment, it has been great to see how well they have done and how many of them have learnt to roll so far this Winter!

It would be great to have more people at the pool sessions; though, as we only have use of the pool till the end of March so come and make the most of the nice warm pool to practice in Sundays from 5pm-7pm at Forrester HS.

18 Forth Canoe Club Paddling in the Heart of Edinburgh Slalom Just now we have more people racing in Slalom for the club than we have have in the past 20 years!

Prem- Claire and (Michael K1 and C1) Div 1- Yesi and Max Div 2- Hania and Matthew Div 3-Poppy, Ailsa, Kirsten, Max (C1), Matthew (C1) A big well done to everyone in Div 3 as they all started 2019 in Div 4. **Our Slalom sessions are starting up on the canal in a few weeks time, so lets hope the weather is kind**

Forth Canoe Club Paddling in the Heart of Edinburgh Slalom

Grandtully Slalom was a success again this year with nearly 200 participants and approximately 30 volunteers.

Please volunteer to help with our race at Grandtully the weekend of the 29th/30th of August 2020! It is great fun, with jobs for all sorts. We need everyone to make this event run. Get in touch with Poppy and Kelso about coming along. 21

•We have had a wonderful season with a lot of great results in Scottish regattas and British Champs.

•We were able to run n a couple training camps through the season.

•Some of the children received sponsorships to compete.

•We also received a special visit from one of the newest SCA Performance Squad members during a couple of our

training sessions. 25

Sprint

•While Tomas is away our sprint squad is getting some coached sessions by the U23, K4 World Cup participant and club paddler Ben Gallacher (big thank you for all your input Ben!)

•We currently have a team of 6 dedicated paddlers attending sprint specific sessions

•The club has run several trips with a mixed of experienced and new paddlers. •A full programme for this term is now available on the club website •More trip leaders are needed.
