Program “The Club” Teen Center What is it? After school program for teens ages 13 to 18, focusing on the individual and group projects in the arts including music production, performance, digital and fine art, sewing and silk screening. The center features the Café with a snack bar and a stage for open-mic nights and performances. There is also a tech lab with a recording set-up for music and plenty of com- puters, an art room and a games room with a new pool table and big screen TV. Reading Reaps Rewards R3 Summer Initiative A collaborative effort of the Newport Partnership for Families and the Newport Public Schools. 15 Wickham Road, Newport, RI 02840 401-847-2100

Program The R3 Summer Initiative aims to keep students reading throughout the summer by offering students and parents a high-quality summer learning opportunity that is easily accessible to all families.

What is it? Literacy instruction concentrating on maintenance and reinforcement along with experiential and enrichment learning activities. Breakfast and lunch provided at all sites.

Where is it? The Newport Public Schools Elementary and Middle Summer Learning Academies run for five to six weeks from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. four to five days per week in the community and/or school setting. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Newport County are recreational sites and run for eight to nine weeks from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. five days per week (closed July 4th).
