This 2CD Deluxe 40th Anniversary Edition adds a bonus disc. analogkid6103 noted: 1977 was ground zero for new beginnings in the area of both pop culture and rock n roll. The year would eventually see the King Of Rock’n’ Roll Elvis Presley die. The deadliest (583 casualties) crash in aviation history occurred not in the skies but on the runway between two Boeing 747s on March 27, 1977. Known as the ‘Tenerife Airport Disaster’. Aerosmith’s flight crew inspected a Convair CV-240 for possible use and rejected it because they felt the plane and crew were not up to their standards. That plane crashed on October 20, 1977 from fuel exhaustion due to poor maintenance, killing three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Fleetwood Mac however was having a banner year. Rumors was the Re-Defining of a band that was going nowhere but up. In the same year there was a musical revolution happening on America’s west coast. Van Halen would release their iconic MP3 Version Van Halen I debut, the Eagles would release one of the two iconic classic rock albums in Hotel California and up the coast near San Fransisco Fleetwood Mac would release Rumours. This was also the last Kme that Mick Fleetwood saw Stevie’s friend Robin Anderson, who later passed away from leukaemia. She was very ill at the show and had to be !helicoptered out of the venue. o R M D EVERY MUSICIAN KNOWS IT’s THE RHYTHM SECTION THAT HOLDS a band together. But who knew we’d find as durable an application of that maxim as the one exemplified by the history of Fleetwood Mac? & Over the last thirty years, Fleetwood Mac has comprised fifteen musicians shuffled through six major lineups, resulting in endless tin- kerings with tone and genre. Yet the two members to survive it all rarely write tunes and never front the recordings. They’re the beat- keepers - drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John Me Vie. The fact that a rhythm section could sustain a band through thirty years seems all the more amazing considering the traumatic histories of the band’s shifting array o f stage-front stars. Together, their personal lives have given rock one of its most elaborate and juicy plotlines.
