The project is designed to have coverage assessments to evaluate impact on strengthening quality and access of CMAM services available in 11 states in Northern Nigeria. ACF international in collaboration with FMoH, SMoH and SPHCDA 2 implemented the SQUEAC assessment covering the entire LGA. Mr. Alhaji Sabo Burai (State Nutrition officer) was instrumental in leading the collaboration with active participation of Mr. Ezekiel Daniel (deputy director SPHCDA), Mr. Alhaji Lamara Abubakar and Mr. Alhaji Adamu Inuwa Yayu, the Nutrition focal person and representative of Primary health department in Katagum LGA respectively. Joseph Njau (ACF CMAM coverage program manager) led the coverage assessment team in the implementation of the SQUEAC assessment. The team consists of: Ifeanyi Maduanusi (CMAM coverage program Deputy Manager) and Program Coverage Officers (Chika Obinwa, Zulai Abdulmalik, Janet Adeoye and Francis Ogum). Sophie Woodhead (The Coverage Monitoring Network Coordinator) gave technical insights in validation of the SQUEAC report. To mention a few ACF support staff, Mr. Patrick Williams (ACF Logistics coordinator) and Mr. Abubakar Kawu (CMAM Program Coverage Support Officer) ensured logistics mechanisms were in place for smooth running of the assessment. Importantly the dedication shown by a team of SQUEAC assessment enumerators was invaluable when they probed for information on factors affecting CMAM program in Katagum LGA.

MOHAMMED (Received 25 May 2016; Revision Accepted 27 June 2016) ABSTRACT The analysis of DC resistivity data of part of the River Jama’are Floodplain, Northeastern Nigeria was carried out with a view to mapping the basement and the subsurface structures. One hundred and six Schlumberger Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) stations located at the corners of a 225 x 225m square grid network were occupied. The inter- electrode spacing (AB/2) was varied from 1-225m. Results identified four subsurface geologic layers; topsoil, alluvial sand, Chad Formation/weathered column and basement bedrock as undulating and basal unit at different depths. Four major parallel basement depressions suspected to be regional faults striking approximately NW-SE were delineated. This trend correlated with the general trend of the regional structures in the Chad Basin. The isopach maps of the topsoil and alluvial sand mirrored a more recent NE-SW trend that correlated with the Tibesti-Cameroon trough. However, this recent induced tectonics was adjudged significant to hydrogeology in the area.
