"Ourinternationalisationanddiversificationinourcoreareasofbusiness onceagainguaranteedBayWa'spositiveearningsdevelopment,"KlausJosef Lutz,ChiefExecutiveOfficerofBayWaAG,explained.Internationalfruit tradingand,inparticular,thebusinesswithrenewableenergiesmorethan compensatedfortheeffectsofadifficultagriculturalmarketenvironment, therebydrivingthesignificantimprovementinEBIT,Lutzsaid."The traditionalbusinessunitsconventionalenergyandbuildingmaterialsalso managedtotakeadvantageofthefavourablemarketconditionsintheircore marketsandmakeapositiveearningscontribution,"Lutzcontinued.Agood basisisinplacetofinishtheyearupon2015.Thisopinionisfounded primarilyonthepositiveprospectsforrenewableenergiesandfruit.BayWa alsoexpectsanincreaseintheinternationalagriculturaltradingbusiness inthethirdandfourthquarters,headded. FruitbusinessbolstersAgriculture-catch-upeffectsexpectedinthe secondhalfoftheyear TheAgricultureSegmentcomprisestradinginagriculturaloperating resourcesandproduceaswellastheAgriculturalEquipment,Fruitand DigitalFarmingbusinessunits.Despiteachallengingmarketenvironment withlowproducerpricesandacorrespondingreluctanceamongfarmersto buyoperatingresourcesand,asexpected,agriculturalequipmentin particular,thesegmentfaredwell,especiallyinthesecondquarter.This wasduefirstandforemosttoT&GGlobal'ssuccessfulfruitbusinessinNew ZealandandthenewlyacquiredDutchsupplieroftropicalfruitsTFC Holland.Thebusinessunitalsobenefitedfromthesaleofthepackaging logisticsunitinNewZealand.Inthefruitbusiness,thefruitharvestso farpromisesgoodmarketingopportunitiesforapplesfromNewZealand. Becausethereisreasontoexpectimprovedmarketingopportunitiesinthe exportofhigh-qualitywheat,forexample,ahighpointinproducetradeis anticipatedforagriculturaltradeactivitiesinthesecondhalfofthe year,whichistypicalofthebusiness. EnergySegmentseesverypositivedevelopment TheEnergySegmentcomprisestheBayWaGroup'stradingactivitiesinfossil andrenewableheatingfuels,fuelsandlubricants,aswellasitsbusiness inrenewableenergies,whichispooledinBayWar.e.renewableenergyGmbH. Theconventionalenergiesbusinesssawanexcellentfirsthalfoftheyear onaccountofprice-relatedbriskdemandinheatingfuelsandfuelstrading andimprovedtrademargins.Thesignificantlyhigherresultinthe RenewableEnergiesbusinessunityearonyearwasbolsteredbythesaleof windfarmsandsolarparksintheUKandGermany.Recentlyfinishedplants -suchas"VineFarm"intheUK,at45megawatts(MW)BayWar.e.'slargest singleprojectinthefieldofsolarpower-suggestsfurtherverypositive developmentoftheprojectbusinessonceagaininthesecondhalfofthe year2016.Inaddition,theexpansioninSouthEastAsiacontinuestomake promisingstridesthankstoanewbranchinBangkok,whichjoinsTokyoand Singapore,andfirstprojectacquisitions.
