The western Illinois CEDS is the result of collaboration and input from individuals and community leaders throughout the region. Four objectives have been identied that are seen as the most efcient and effective ways to grow the regional economy and promote community development. The CEDS begins with a look back at how this region has grown since the rst settlers arrived and major regional events that have shaped the communities into what they are today; with this foundation of understanding the past, and through the participation of regional members, an atmosphere conducive to growth and development that will benet the entire region can be implemented.
