The research problems are the structure (rhyme and rhythm), the function, and the meaning of Mantra Berattep. The research aims to describe those problems. Based on the data analysis on Mantra Berattep of Malay People in Teluk Keramat District Sambas Regency, there are rhyme according to their sounds in words such as full rhyme, absolute rhyme, half rhyme, alliteration rhyme, assonant rhyme, and pararhyme (MBB2). Rhymes according to their location in the lines such as initial rhyme (MBB1 and MB), middle rhyme, and tail rhyme. Rhymes according to the location of the rhyme in the line such as internal rhyme and cross rhyme. Rhymes according to their matches in a verse such as broken rhyme and free rhyme. Overall the reading of Mantra Berattep by Malay People in Teluk Keramat has flat intonation. The function of Mantra Berattep includes recreative function, didactic function, aesthetic function, moral function, and religious function.

He was the - 7- Natha Jyothi who got grace of Goddess Shakti and gave birth to innumerable godly songs. It is 178 years since Dikshitar breathed his last on a Diwali Day and mingled in Natha Jyothi. All Sangeetha Vidvans (musicians) must celebrate the Diwali fes - tival, especially Dikshitar Day; his keerthanas must be sung in every house - hold. I express our thanks to Yogi Shud - dhananda Bharati who wrote this small work on the history of Dikshitar. Secondly, it is Dayananda. In his small work titled Rishi Dayananda, the author speaks about the history of the Father of Navbarath Dayananda and the principles of Arya Samaj in brief.

    1 Tantra and Hatha Yoga. A little history and some introductory thoughts: These areas of practice in yoga are really all part of the same, with Tantra being the historical development in practice that later spawned hatha yoga. Practices originating in these traditions form much of what we practice in the modern day yoga. Many terms, ideas and theories that we use come from this body of knowledge though we may not always fully realise it or understand or appreciate their original context and intent. There are a huge number of practices described that may or may not seem relevant to our current practice and interests. These practices are ultimately designed for complete transformation and liberation, but along the way there are many practices designed to be of therapeutic value to humans on many levels and without which the potential for transformation cannot happen. Historically, Tantra started to emerge around the 6th to 8th Centuries A.D. partly as a response to unrealistic austerities in yoga practice that some practitioners were espousing in relation to lifestyle, food, sex and normal householder life in general. Tantra is essentially a re-embracing of all aspects of life as being part of a yogic path; the argument being that if indeed all of life manifests from an underlying source and is therefore all interconnected then all of life is inherently spiritual or worthy of our attention. And indeed, if we do not attend to all aspects of life in our practice this can lead to problems and imbalances. This embracing of all of life includes looking at our shadows and dark sides and integrating or transforming them, ideas which also seem to be embraced in modern psychology.

    Preface Pilgrimage places like Varanasi, Prayag, Haridwar and Vrindavan have always got prominent place in any pilgrimage of the devotees and its importance is well known. Many mythological stories are associated to these places. Though Orissa had many temples, historical places and natural scenic beauty spot, but it did not get so much prominence. This may be due to the lack of connectivity. Buddhism and Jainism flourished there followed by Shaivaism and Vainavism. After reading the lives of Sri Chaitanya, Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and direct disciples we come to know the importance and spiritual significance of these places. Holy Mother and many disciples of Sri Ramakrishna had great time in Orissa. Many are blessed here by the vision of Lord Jagannath or the Master. The lives of these great souls had shown us a way to visit these places with spiritual consciousness and devotion. Unless we read the life of Sri Chaitanya we will not understand the life of Sri Ramakrishna properly. Similarly unless we study the chapter in the lives of these great souls in Orissa we will not be able to understand and appreciate the significance of these places. If we go on pilgrimage to Orissa with same spirit and devotion as shown by these great souls, we are sure to be benefited spiritually. This collection will put the light on the Orissa chapter in the lives of these great souls and will inspire the devotees to read more about their lives in details. This will also help the devotees to go to pilgrimage in Orissa and strengthen their devotion.

    Dr. Shuddhananda Bharati Poet Nightingale Subramaniya Bharathiyar Life story of Bharathiyar ASSA Editions Editor’s Notes Subramaniya Bharathiyar was born on 11 th December 1882 in Ettayapuram, which is now part of Thoothukudi District. He died on 11 th September 1921. Bharathiar was educated at a local high school where his talents as a poet were recognized even at the age of 11. He had a voracious appetite for learning ancient and contemporary Tamil literature and had a gifted intellect to derive astonishing truths from ancient poems. He was also one of the prominent leaders of the Indian independence movement. His national integration songs earned him the title “Desiya Kavi” (National Poet). His patriotic songs emphasize national - ism, unity of India, equality of men and the greatness of the Tamil language. Hindus believe there is one God, whom they call Brahman. They like to think Hindus worship at home (puja) and in the mandir (temple). But Hindus believe that everything they about him in different ways to help them understand him. Hindus will make sure they wash before they start their worship. The shrine will contain a picture or statue of the deities and will be decorated nicely. A bell is rung before they start to worship, so that the deity will notice that they are there; be woken up. Brahma – the creator Hindus like to use all 5 of their senses when they worship. Vishnu – the preserver of life Hindus will light candles and burn incense when they worship. They will bring an offering such as food or flowers. Shiva – the destroyer of ignorance and evil. They will touch the picture or statue with special coloured powder and with ghee, which is melted butter. These three deities are known as the Trimurti Hindus believe that God has visited the world many times in the form of different deities (gods) to help us to know how to be good and to resist evil.
