This pocket–sized Arts Guide will help you seek out and enjoy the many and varied artforms available for visitors amongst the city’s venues. There are several contemporary art galleries, theatres, art centres, community arts facilities, artist run studios and workshops across Milton Keynes and their details are listed on pages 2 - 11. Venues like the Stables which are located further from the centre are shown on the pull-out map which is called ARTS VENUES MK. Several venues are within Central Milton Keynes itself. These are shown in orange boxes on the THE CITY CENTRE ART WALK MAP. The same map locates a selection of the city’s public artworks commissioned or donated since the 1970s. Milton Keynes has one of the largest public collections in the country with works by artists and influential sculptors such as Dame Elisabeth Frink, Michael Sandle, Dhruva Mistry and Peter Freeman. There is a WALKING TOUR set amongst the distinctive architecture, busy shopping centres, spacious precincts and tranquil green spaces of central Milton Keynes, the route has been outlined on the map. On pages 13 to 20 you will find a reference number for each artwork shown on the map, along with a brief description.     The Parks Trust Self-Guided Walks: North Loughton Valley Park Walk revised by Peter Burrett, Tuesday 20th August 2013 Start point The City Discovery Centre off Alston Drive in Bradwell Abbey. Alston Drive is accessed directly off the Stacey Bushes roundabout on the A422 Monks Way (H3), about 0.5 kilometres east of the Abbey Hill junction of the A5. There is a free car park immediately off Alston Drive, but If there is space, drive on a short distance to a further free car park in front of the group of buildings that make up the Discovery Centre. Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre informs visitors about urban geography and new city planning, as well as the historical and natural heritage of Milton Keynes. Walk overview This is an elongated circular walk, finishing back at the Discovery Centre. The entire route is within The North Loughton Valley Park. The walking is easy along footpaths and red ways, but because one section takes you over a stepped railway bridge it is not suitable for wheelchair users. Distances & times Circular walk; Discovery Centre – Bradwell Abbey Chapel - Loughton Brook – St Lawrence Church, Bradwell – Roman Villa – Concrete Cows – Discovery Centre = 2.5 miles, 90 minutes. There are no formal refreshment stops, but many benches / picnic tables along the route and opportunities for picnics at several grassy spaces. The circular walk Standing in the car park you will see grade two listed Bradwell Abbey Manor House to your left. The house was built in the early 1600s, but altered in later centuries. Walk down the short concrete pathway between the Manor House and a paddock until you see St Mary’s Chapel, just beyond the Manor House on your right.

As throughout our carefully planned city, industry, offices, retail and other workplaces are disbursed throughout the different ‘grid squares’ along with primary and secondary schools and residential areas. There are also some large areas of recreational parkland, and a number of lakes, historic buildings and ancient villages, as well as much 20th century housing in a kind of mixed economy. So, it is a stimulating and interesting place to pursue mission and ministry in the name of Christ. However, these opportunities also present us with considerable challenges, and it is through the idea of an Interim Minister that we hope to address the issues that face us with courage, imagination and faithfulness to our calling to be Christ’s people in this place.

She is now working as an Operational Planner at Network Rail. Alan Patterson is the Principal Lecturer in Human Geography at Sheffield Hallam University and supervised the dissertation. Abstract The new town of Milton Keynes (MK) is home to a globally renowned grid system, comprising vertical and horizontal grid roads, uniquely intertwined by a network of pedestrian and cycle paths, known as ‘Redways.’ This paper explores how this transport infrastructure affects the way the population of MK travels, through the use of a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews. A wide range of the relevant literature is reviewed and the data gained from the questionnaire and interviews is examined, using both quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis.
