I totally understand, I was sitting right where you are today searching for anything to help me increase my velocity. It sucks! Every time you get on that mound you are trying to throw the ball away from the hitter instead of right at him. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was always trying to learn different pitches, so I wouldn't get hit so hard. I was constantly changing my arm angle to get more movement on my ball, so I wouldn't get hit so hard. I even pitched one game where I used a different arm angel every single pitch, so I wouldn't get hit so hard. Not only did my arm kill me the next day but I had more walks than strikeouts and when all this failed I went back to trying to throw the ball perfectly at the knees or just off the plate, so I wouldn't get hit so hard. This worked until I would miss and leave it over the plate and a rocket would shot past my head. This is when I lost it and was fed up with getting hit so hard that I went insane. I wanted to throw so hard, so bad, that when I would pitch, I would grunt and almost scream be- cause I was wiping my arm so hard to the plate. I would literally swing my arm out of my glove, be- hind my head and then pull it across my body to the plate as hard as I possibly could. It looked like my arm was ripping off my body. Everyone who saw a picture of me pitching would cringe in pain. I learned quickly that if you are trying to throw hard and you don't know what you are doing then dis- aster is just around the corner. Disaster came when I was 18 years old and I had ruined my arm be- cause of the combination of stupidity and an insane desire to throw harder. I had just signed a full scholarship to a top level Junior College and was pitching in the opening day game. The moment my rotator cuff tore was like out of a movie. I was hiding the pain with pain killers and I also had to hit my arm in between innings so I would feel the pain of the punch instead of the pain coming from my throbbing arm. It was the fourth inning and I was trying to win my first college game when some- thing felt like it exploded in my shoulder. My arm completely went limp and I could not move it. My heart was beating so fast that I thought I might pass out. I looked at my coached and said some- thing was wrong. He brought in relief and I went to the doctor. I had torn my rotator cuff and needed surgery immediately. After surgery and my rehabilitation, I was told by every single doctor that my career was over. I would be able to throw again but never as hard as I was throwing before the in- jury which was about 85 MPH. I was crushed and went into a serious depression. 4 You think the pain of getting hit around hard or walking the runners in during a big game is tough, just image what it would feel like if a bunch of doctors told you that your career was over at 18 years old! It was devastating. I didn't understand why this was happening to me when all I was trying to do was increase my velocity so I could compete at the high school and college level. This was the biggest most significant moment of my life and what it taught me is what I want to give to you here. What if I told you that you could reach your velocity goals and throw the ball past hitters? What if I told you that you only need one pitch to dominate in high school and college? What if I told you that you could throw gas without having to worry about destroying your arm? What if I told you that you could feel like Superman on the mound? What if I could give you the secrets to velocity TODAY and you could start seeing MPH's TOMORROW? I am sure that you would lose your mind like I did when I discovered them. I will never forget the day that I discovered the first velocity secret and could not believe that no one knew about it and when I discovered the next velocity secret, once again, no one knew about it. I thought I was dreaming! My life made a complete 180. I went from total depression to feeling that incredible drive to not only pitch again but throw heat! When I started using these secrets I couldn't believe that these well respected Doctors had no idea what they were talking about. I also could not believe that I was going to not only play again but I could reach my goals and dreams of playing professional baseball. I could now see 90 MPH and I knew how to get there. I am sure you are wondering why I have the secrets and no one else does? I think about this everyday and it blows my mind. I have theories about this but I do not want to fill this book with them. What blows my mind even more is that those who find my website pass up the opportunity to download this FREE book or purchase the 3X Extreme Pitching Velocity Program.

A Thesis Presented in Parital Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Degree Master of Science in Kinesiology COLLEGE OF EDUCATION LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY May 2021 ABSTRACT Purpose: To identify how countermovement jump (CMJ) kinetics influence kinematics and momentum of the baseball pitching motion with a focus on lower body and proximal movement. Methods: Nineteen Division I collegiate pitchers (age = 19.9 ± 1.5 years; height = 1.86 ± 0.06 m; weight = 90.7 ± 13.8 kg) performed a bilateral CMJ test and threw 5 strike fastballs from the stretch with a slide step on a custom-made pitching mound built for a laboratory setting. A 3D motion capture system tracked whole-body kinematics at 240 Hz from 29 reflective markers. Two force plates recorded ground reaction forces (GRFs) from each leg at 1040 Hz during both jump test and pitching captures. A one-way ANOVA separating high and low fastball velocity groups by an athlete’s median performance identified differences in pitching mechanics and jump kinetic variables. Meaningful differences between the variables were determined by cohen’s d effect size with 95% confidence intervals. The same statistical calculations were repeated to identify differences in pitching mechanics and jump kinetic variables between two groups, split based on the medians of pitchers’ total linear momentum in anterior-posterior direction.

  • PLAY BALL! MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL in BLOOMSBURG Did
PLAY BALL! MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL IN BLOOMSBURG Did you ever dream of seeing major league baseball in Columbia County? It happened once in the past. During the recent American League Divisional Championship series between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers, a few Columbia County long-time baseball fans were reminded of the series played between those same two teams at the Bloomsburg Fair in October 1925. The two major-league teams were scheduled for a three-game series during Fair week. They played on an improvised field on the racetrack infield in front of the grandstand. Each squad brought to town only the bare minimum of players; the Yankee pitchers when they were not on the mound played in the outfield. Two games were completed; the third day’s game was rained out and couldn’t be rescheduled because the teams left town for an engagement in Wilkes-Barre. The Tigers won both games, but both were close, exciting contests. The games were slated at 10:00am each day so as not to conflict with the trotting races held in the afternoons. Apparently, the Fair Board was hoping that the major leaguers would draw folks to the Fair in the usually-slack morning hours. And the scheme worked – the games drew upwards of 10,000 fans each day. At the time, the grandstand capacity was only 2,000, so the other fans crowded the railing around the oval track. In 1925 the Yankees were in the middle of their storied 1920s championship era. With Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig as mainstays, this was arguably the greatest baseball team ever assembled.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL WEEKLY NOTES FRIDAY, JULY 28, 2017 BLACKMON WORKING TOWARD HISTORIC SEASON On Sunday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Coors Field, Colorado Rockies All-Star outfi elder Charlie Blackmon went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and his 24th home run of the season. With the round-tripper, Blackmon recorded his 57th extra-base hit on the season, which include 20 doubles, 13 triples and his aforementioned 24 home runs. Pacing the Majors in triples, Blackmon trails only his teammate, All-Star Nolan Arenado for the most extra-base hits (60) in the Majors. Blackmon is looking to become the fi rst Major League player to log at least 20 doubles, 20 triples and 20 home runs in a single season since Curtis Granderson (38-23-23) and Jimmy Rollins (38-20-30) both accomplished the feat during the 2007 season. Since 1901, there have only been seven 20-20-20 players, including Granderson, Rollins, Hall of Famers George Brett (1979) and Willie Mays (1957), Jeff Heath (1941), Hall of Famer Jim Bottomley (1928) and Frank Schulte, who did so during his MVP-winning 1911 season. Charlie would become the fi rst Rockies player in franchise history to post such a season. If the season were to end today, Blackmon’s extra-base hit line (20-13-24) has only been replicated by 34 diff erent players in MLB history with Rollins’ 2007 season being the most recent. It is the fi rst stat line of its kind in Rockies franchise history. Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig is the only player in history to post such a line in four seasons (1927-28, 30-31).

  • House-Ch-5-Flext Elbow Position at Release.Pdf
No one pitch, thrown properly, puts any more stress on the arm than any other pitch." Alan Blitzblau, Biomechanist The Pitching Edge crxratt....-rter hen I first heard Alan Blitzblau's remark on the previous page, 1 was more than a little skeptical. He had to be wrong. For many W years, I, like everyone else, had been telling parents of Little Leagu- ers that their youngsters should not throw curveballs, that curveballs were bad for a young arm. "Now wait a minute," I said, "you've just dis- counted what's been taught to young pitchers all over the United States. Are you sure?" "I'm sure," he responded. Alan sat down in front of the computer and showed me what he had discovered. From foot to throw- ing elbow, every pitch has exactly the same neuromuscular sequencing. The only body segments that change when a different type of pitch is thrown are the forearm, wrist, hand, and fingers, and they change only in angle. Arm speed is the same, the arm's external rotation into launch is the same, and pronation during deceleration is the same. It is the differ- ent angles of the forearm, wrist, hand, and fingers that alter velocity, rota- tion, and flight of a ball. He also revealed another surprise. The grip of a pitch is secondary to this angle, and all pitches leave the middle finger last! This was blasphemy I was stunned. But Alan wasn't finished. "Tom, for every one-eighth inch the middle finger misses the release point when the arm snaps straight at launch, it (the ball) is eight inches off location at home plate So throwing strikes means getting the middle finger to a quarter-sized spot on the middle of the baseball with every pitch." Wow! This chapter will dispel myths about what happens to pitcher's elbows, forearms, wrists, and fingers at release point, For years, pitching coaches (me included) taught pitchers to "pull" their glove-side elbow to their hip when throwing.
