Thank you for the interest that you have shown in Primary School. I hope that you enjoy reading our application pack which is designed to give you a flavour of the school which is a happy and successful one-form entry primary school of which we are immensely proud.

Our current Head teacher will be retiring at Easter 2021 after eight years in the post and we are seeking to appoint a permanent successor who will bring their own experience, energy and commitment to excellence to the role, to maintain the school’s high standards and build upon the successful Ofsted judgement of ‘Good’ in March 2017.

Our pupils are motivated, engaged, and live the School’s ethos of respect, determination, positivity and kindness. We have a well-maintained, attractive building with extensive grounds that include an outdoor learning area, school garden and MUGA pitch which our staff and pupils enjoy and make full use of as an excellent learning environment.

Parents, Carers and Governors play an active part in school life and The Friends of Newbald School are an active group who organise fundraising events for the benefit of the school and its pupils. Our school plays an important role in the local community and we aim to continue and strengthen this whenever possible. ...

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and creative education practitioner, with experience of improving achievement and raising expectations. You will be required to work closely with staff, parents, Governors and the Local Authority, to lead self-evaluation and review, and to implement the School Development Plan.

North Newbald is an attractive rural village of over 1100 residents situated approximately 8 miles from and 4 miles from the market town of – the hub of the East Riding of . The village sits on the edge of the beautiful and the famous Wolds Way, a long-distance footpath running from the Bridge to Filey on the coast. The village is easily accessible from the A1034 or A1079 and is 6 miles from the A63/M62.

Newbald Primary School moved to its current site on the edge of the village in February 1914 and has continued to thrive and develop there for over one hundred years.

The school boasts grounds of over two acres which includes a school garden, outdoor learning area, playground, playing field and Multi Use Games Area pitch.

The school buildings have been modernised and extended, most recently in 2016 and include a new school hall, dedicated EYFS outdoor learning area, 4 classrooms, additional learning areas as well as up to date IT systems with cloud storage that supports remote learning and working.

The school admits children into the Nursery from the age of three and has four classes – Nursery & EYFS, Years One & Two, Years Three & Four and Years Five & Six. The school offers numerous clubs and activities for pupils and offers "wrap around care" through its Sunshine Club.

The school benefits from a strong volunteer parents association – Friends of Newbald Primary School, whose charitable aim is to raise funds to provide equipment and enrichment activities for the benefit of our pupils. Job purpose: To provide vision, leadership and direction for the school. With the Governing Body, to be responsible for creating and maintaining a productive learning environment which is engaging and fulfilling for all pupils, promoting the highest possible standards, and fostering the continuous improvement of the quality of learning offered by the school.

Accountable to: The Governing Body Accountable for: The standards, progress and well-being of all pupils and all staff and for all resources.

Key tasks Overall: To treat everyone fairly and equitably, with dignity and respect so as to create and maintain a shared school culture and positive climate that motivates pupils, staff and all other members of the school community. To nurture all children so that they reach their goals. To promote effective relationships with all pupils, staff, Governors, parents, other schools the local community, the Local Authority and other external bodies to enhance the positive image of the school and the development of the education system as a whole. To create a culture of high expectations and aspirations that lead to excellent learning.

Leadership and management: Working with all stakeholders, create a vision for the school that provides direction for all aspects of the life of the school. To be responsible for the day-to-day management, organisation and administration of the school, modelling effective work-life balance and managing the workload of others. To ensure that the school achieves its curriculum and pastoral aims through the implementation of effective improvement planning. To ensure the rigorous implementation of well-focused improvement plans, based on robust self-evaluation. Governance: To work with the Governing Body to enable it to meet its responsibilities and present to it, on a regular basis, an accurate account of the school’s performance. The curriculum: To ensure that statutory requirements for the curriculum are met, that curriculum provision is appropriate and relevant to the needs of all pupils and provides equality of opportunity for all. To secure a broad and balanced curriculum that promotes spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning well and assists pupils in preparing for life in modern Britain. To provide a curriculum focussed on ensuring that all pupils make excellent progress in reading, writing and mathematics.
