Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Recorded March 9th 1967 in a somewhat classic evening of recording. John Lennon while doing back up vocals began to feel very ill, but more nervous than actually ill. They took him to the roof to get some air, (as they couldn’t go out the front doors of the studio as a ton of Apple Scuffs were their) and when he got to the roof John realized he must have taken some acid (forgot John?)…He watched the rest of the session and afterwards Paul took John home and took acid for the first time to comfort his pal. Lead vocal Paul McCartney .65 / Lennon .35 John Lennon – Instant Karma – Single `70 John's third solo single. On January 27th 1970 John wrote, recorded, and mixed "Instant Karma" with Phil Spector producing. The single was released just 10 days later, therefore being one of the fastest singles of modern times to be completed. "Instant Karma" was this time credited to LENNON/ONO with the Plastic Ono Band, which on this occasion comprised, John, George Harrison, Klaus Voorman, Alan White, Billy Preston, Yoko and Mal Evans. Billy Preston also rounded up some late-night revellers from London's Hatchetts Club for the chorus. We got a rare treat in this country on February 12th, when John appeared on "Top of the Pops" to promote the record, the first Beatle to do so since 1966. While John hammered the piano, with an armband on his denim jacket saying "People for peace", Yoko was perched behind him, blindfolded holding up cards with simple inscriptions. "Instant Karma" was the first Beatle solo single to sell a million copies in America. The Beatles - Hey Bulldog - Yellow Submarine Recorded 11th February 1968 John said, ”it’s a good sounding record that means nothing”. This was achieved by transferring the mono master to two separate channels and then boosting the low bass frequencies in one channel and emphasizing the high treble frequencies in the other. In addition to boosting the bass and tweaking the treble, Capitol often ran the separate tracks slightly out of sync and added reverb. These simulated stereo mixes were described by Capitol as "duophonic recordings." While most of Capitol's duophonic mixes sound great, these two mixes are muddy- sounding echo-drenched disasters. The Beatles – When I Get Home – AHDN Recorded June 2nd 1964.
