They can even top the group if they either win in Berlin or Athletic Club fail to take three points from their matchday six trip to Zorya. Previous meetings • Östersund's first meeting with German opponents brought a 1-0 home win over Hertha on matchday two, a 22nd- minute penalty from Iraqi midfielder Brwa Nouri deciding the outcome at the Jämtkraft Arena. • Hertha had won all three previous UEFA encounters with Swedish sides, including one at home – a 3-1 victory over Elfsborg in the 1971/72 UEFA Cup. Form guide • Hertha have not conceded in any of their last three European home games and have lost only one of their last eight (W4 D3). • Östersund have a perfectly balanced away record in Europe (W2 D1 L2), scoring six goals and shipping the same number. • Östersund are the first Swedish club to qualify for the knockout phase of the UEFA Europa League. Four others – AIK, Elfsborg, Helsingborg and Malmö – have competed in the group stage but made no further progress. Indeed, Östersund have already registered as many group stage victories (three) as those four clubs put together. • Sixth in Germany last season, Hertha made it through the UEFA Europa League group stage on their most recent appearance, in 2009/10, but they were eliminated by Brøndby in last year's third qualifying round. • First-time Swedish Cup winners in 2016/17, Östersund are enjoying an exceptional debut UEFA campaign, having eliminated Galatasaray, Fola Esch and PAOK during the qualifying phase and reached the round of 32 with a game to spare. Links and trivia • The journey from Ostersund to Berlin is around 1,200km. • Hertha's Salomon Kalou was a 2011/12 UEFA Champions League winner with Chelsea. • This is Hertha's 96th UEFA game – and Östersund's 12th. • Östersund concluded their 2017 Swedish Allsvenskan campaign on 5 November. They finished fifth, 14 points behind champions Malmö; it is the highest final placing in the club's history. • Östersund goalkeeper Aly Keita turns 31 the day after this game. • Suspended for next match if booked: Fouad Bachirou, Ronald Mukiibi (Östersund). The coaches • Englishman Graham Potter has helped steer Östersund from the Swedish fourth tier to the UEFA Europa League since taking the reins in 2011. He played in England's lower leagues with teams including Birmingham, Stoke and West Brom. • Pál Dárdai joined Hertha as a player in 1997 and made a club-record 366 league appearances for Die Alte Dame. He coached Hertha's youth team – and his native Hungary's senior side – for a time before taking the main job at the Berlin club in 2015. 3 Hertha BSC Berlin - Östersunds FK Thursday 7 December 2017 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Olympiastadion, Berlin Team facts Hertha BSC Berlin Formed: 1892 Nickname: Die Alte Dame (The Old Lady) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 2 (1931) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2016/17: third qualifying round 2015/16: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2014/15: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2013/14: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2009/10: round of 32 2008/09: group stage 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA club competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 8-1: Hertha v Nistru Otaci 17/07/08, UEFA Cup first qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 1-4: Elfsborg v Hertha 29/09/71, UEFA Cup first round second leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-4: Hertha v Galatasaray 26/10/99, UEFA Champions League first group stage 0-3: Hertha v Servette 06/12/01, UEFA Cup third round second leg • Heaviest away defeat 4-0 twice, most recently v Benfica 23/02/10, UEFA Europa League round of 32 second leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 8-1: Hertha v Nistru Otaci (see above) • Biggest away win 1-4: Elfsborg v Hertha (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Hertha v Servette (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 4-0 twice, most recently v Benfica (see above) Östersunds FK Formed: 1996 Nickname: ÖFK UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) Swedish Cup: 1 (2017) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 4 Hertha BSC Berlin - Östersunds FK Thursday 7 December 2017 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Olympiastadion, Berlin 2016/17: did not take part in UEFA competition 2015/16: did not take part in UEFA competition 2014/15: did not take part in UEFA competition 2013/14: did not take part in UEFA competition 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA competition 2009/10: did not take part in UEFA competition 2008/09: did not take part in UEFA competition 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 2-0 three times, most recently v Zorya Luhansk 23/11/17, UEFA Europa League group stage • Biggest away win 0-2: Zorya v Östersund 14/09/17, UEFA Europa League group stage • Heaviest home defeat N/A • Heaviest away defeat 3-1: Östersund v PAOK 17/08/17, UEFA Europa League play-off first leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 2-0 three times, most recently v Zorya Luhansk (see above) • Biggest away win 0-2: Zorya v Östersund (see above) • Heaviest home defeat N/A • Heaviest away defeat 3-1: Östersund v PAOK (see above) 5 Hertha BSC Berlin - Östersunds FK Thursday 7 December 2017 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Olympiastadion, Berlin Squad list Hertha BSC Berlin Current season All-time UEL League UEL UEFA No. Player Nat.
