Also known as SN, Sarojini Nagar is one of the most sought after places in New Delhi, from where one can buy clothes and fabrics. If you have a nose for shopping and you can bargain, then this is the place for you. There are some other small markets near Sarojini, namely Babu Market, Subzi Market and Central Market. Babu Market is located at the north-west corner of Sarojini Nagar Market. It mainly houses garment shops. You can savor hot Indian snacks, like Samosas and Jalebi, here in the evening or on a rainy day. Then, there is the Subzi Market, located at the far south end of SN. 'Subzi' is the name given to vegetables in North India. This market is famous for its fresh fruits and vegetables available at reasonable price. Last but not the least, there is Central Market facing Subzi Mandi. Here you can buy spices. There are also a number of furniture houses and general stores here. The most famous Export Bazaar/Market for clothes is also located in the back-streets here, near Subzi market. Shopping can be fun in Sarojini, but keep certain things in mind while planning to shop here. One, during summers, shopping becomes a challenge due to the scorching heat of the sun. Secondly, to avoid chaos and crowd, it is better to visit the place on weekdays. Other Markets The other notable market complexes in Delhi include Greater Kailash Market, reputed as the market for the well-off section of the population. The famous M-Block market here offers designer clothes, accessories and cosmetics. Exotic fruits imported from across the world are also available here. The N-Block market is good for ethnic Indian wear, furnishings and crockery, while Archana Arcade is an ideal place for Indian bride's trousseau. South Extension Part I & II are other affluent markets in South Delhi, offering quality garments and footwear, and have outlets of almost all the top international brands. The Paharganj area near New Delhi railway station is the place to explore for inexpensive and mid-range accommodation and travel gear. Karol Bagh is a thriving commercial and business centre dominated by Punjabis. The Ajmal Khan Road here is not only a place for cotton yarn and embroidered garments, but also have fancy stores and food joints offering spicy Indian snacks. Cental Market of Lajpar Nagar is one of the largest markets in Delhi that has everything from food joints to fashionable clothes to footwear to handbags to fashion jewelry. Hauz Khas Village shopping complex is another popular market, which presents a unique blend of the old and new, with rich historical legacy.
