Sept 19 – Archie Fisher ’s foremost folk troubadour, the folk singer/song writer Archie Fisher, possesses a rich gorgeous voice well-suited to the traditional and original Celtic songs he performs. He is a master of the who has recorded and performed with many folk legends: Silly Wizard, Tom Paxton, and The Clancy Brothers. His musical contributions make him a linchpin between the Celtic and American folk- song traditions, both old and new. — Archie Fisher – Photo © Kathryn Mann Oct 17 – Priscilla Herdman with guitarist Max Cohen Priscilla Herdman, a singer of uncommon range, depth and clarity, is widely known for her exceptional voice and admired for her ability to choose timeless material that touches the heart. She explores a wide range of human experience with songs that are personal and political, and revel in the wonder of the universe. She is accompanied by guitarist Max Cohen, whose exquisite finger-style playing is a perfect complement to Priscilla's elegant and powerful vocals. — Priscilla Herdman – Photo © Susan Herdman Nov 21 Joel Mabus Singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Joel Mabus is a maverick in the world who defies any easy pigeonhole. By turns, he picks a mountain to accompany an ancient ballad, sings a witty song about modern life, plays a sweet Irish melody on guitar, swings a hot jazz number, and then reaches deep for a soulful expression of values in a troubled world. He tops it all with a tune or old Carter family song. — Joel Mabus – Photo © Dick Ainsworth Dec 12 – Bill Staines Singing mostly his own songs, Bill Staines has become one of the most popular and durable singers on the folk music scene today. He weaves gentle wit and humor into songs that represent a slice of Americana, touching on the lives of Midwest prarie people, Yukon adventurers, on-the-road truckers, and everyday workers. — Bill Staines – Photo © Larry Marcus Jan 16 – Sloan Wainwright Defying standard categorization, singer/songwriter Sloan Wainwright consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles — pop, folk, jazz and blues. She is a compelling performer with a rich contralto voice and intensely personal lyrics that are forceful and uplifting. She casts a spell over her audience, drawing them in, as she explores childhood and the poetry of life. — Sloan Wainwright – Photo © Sloan Wainwright Feb 20 – emma’s revolution – Pat Humphries & Sandy O. emma’s revolution is a duo of activist singer/songwriters Pat Humphries & Sandy O. who are known for gorgeous harmonies, great melodies with a driving beat and anthemic songs in the folk tradition that are calls to action. Their songs Peace, Salaam, Shalom & Keep on Moving Forward are sung around the world. — Sandy O. & Pat Humphries – Photo © Irene Young March 20 – Mary Gauthier Louisiana-born Mary Gauthier harvests songs from her life experiences – love, loss, a life transformed. Her roots are country and folk music, but her strong lyrics and razor-sharp eye for detail and commitment to unsentimental self-reflection put her in a class with Kris Kristofferson and John Prine. Gauthier’s rich palette of unconventional vocal shadings, textures and tones make her a gripping storyteller in song. — Mary Gautier – Photo © Jack Spencer April 17 – Craig Bickhardt Nashville singer-songwriter Craig Bickhardt’s songs are eloquent and bittersweet, drawn from dreams, heartaches and hard-earned lessons. His virtuosic guitar work complements the songs interweaving folk, blues, country and ragtime influences that reveal why artists as diverse as Ray Charles, Johnny Cash and Alison Krauss have recorded them. — Craig Bickhardt – Photo © Craig Bickhardt May 15 – Mary Courtney County Kerry-born, singer / songwriter Mary Courtney’s voice has a beauty, depth and clarity of tone that few can equal. Her music is a collaboration of traditional Irish music and music with a progressive social conscience.
