WEC Bahrain: Audi Sport Quotes Audi MediaInfo Communications Motorsport Eva -Maria Becker Tel: +49 841 89-33922 E-mail: [email protected] www.audi -mediacenter.com/en WEC Bahrain: Audi Sport quotes Ingolstadt/Bahrain, November 19, 2016 – Quotes from the Audi team following the one-two victory in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) finale. Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport): “There’s no sweeter way to end such a project than with a one-two victory. It was a very emotional race and the entire FIA WEC made it very difficult for us to quit. Today, you could tell that we’ve grown into a big family over many years. Now, we’re going to look ahead, giving our all in our new projects, just like we’ve come to be known. What happened in the WEC will not repeat itself. These 18 years of the sports car project have been a very important part of my professional life that I tremendously enjoyed. And I was fortunate enough to have always worked together with fantastic people.” Stefan Dreyer (Head of LMP): “The greatest thing in motorsport is to stand on the top step of the podium and to have achieved the maximum in positions one and two. This victory was long overdue and is the reward for the hard work of the trackside teams and those at home. The drivers and Audi Sport Team Joest did a perfect job today and deserve having clinched the vice-champions’ titles. I feel exhausted and am very emotional following this last LMP race victory achieved by Audi. Many thanks to everyone for their trust – we were a superb team.” Ralf Jüttner (Team Director Audi Sport Team Joest): “After 18 years with Audi, a one-two victory is the sweetest ending you could imagine. I’d like to thank my team that did a perfect job and, of course, Audi for this era. We’re going to leave no stone unturned to develop a new program for our squad. Today, we’re celebrating our one-two victory and the vice-championship for Lucas di Grassi, Loïc Duval and Oliver Jarvis. All six drivers drove sensationally. An era is ending with a result that this era deserves.” Lucas di Grassi (Audi R18 #8): “It’s a good feeling to end this season with a golden result as a team. We showed that we developed as a driver squad, and having won twice this year is great. Naturally, I’m sad that Audi and most of us are leaving the WEC, which is such a big family. I’m not only going to miss the races, but the people as well. I wasn’t familiar yet with endurance racing when I drove for Audi for the first time in 2012, but I’ve come to love it very much. I’ll miss these cars and the adrenaline of the endurance races.” Loïc Duval (Audi R18 #8): “It means a lot to us to be the last drivers to have won a race in Le Mans prototypes for Audi. We were absolutely competitive today. When I was sitting in the car a little downforce was lacking, but the mechanics cleaned the bodywork and in the process discovered a 1/2 Audi MediaInfo plastic bag that impaired aerodynamics. The whole team did a superb job. It was a very emotional weekend. My feelings were even stronger than in the 2013 title win. I’m happy and proud.” Oliver Jarvis (Audi R18 #8): “We had a fantastic year. Our weekend was very emotional. Naturally, we wanted to win. We managed to do that, and it was the perfect conclusion of Audi’s sports car program. Now we’re leaving the FIA WEC in the hands of the two strong teams of Toyota and Porsche – where it’s in good hands. Audi will be missed by many, but the championship is incredibly strong nonetheless.” Marcel Fässler (Audi R18 #7): “Sincere congratulations to Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb on winning the world championship title. My race started with some great and very fair battles. Even in the past two years, the duels with Toyota and Porsche were tremendous. I’m definitely going to miss that. Today, I extremely enjoyed every lap in this car. Having achieved so much with Audi Sport, Audi Sport Team Joest and with my two teammates in these seven years compares with nothing else. Plus, our rapport was outstanding, both on and off the track.” André Lotterer (Audi R18 #7): “Today, we showed what the car is truly capable of. The team worked very hard for this aim throughout the season. Like Marcel, I enjoyed every lap to the full. This one-two victory is the sweetest farewell gift for Audi. It won’t be easy now to go different ways. We were kind of a dream team and lived this dream. I’m going to miss that very much.” Benoît Tréluyer (Audi R18 #7): “A huge thank you to my teammates, the entire squad and to Dr. Ullrich. Congratulations to our teammates on a sensational race and to the Porsche drivers on winning the title. Thank you also to the FIA WEC for this great time. Now I’m going to enjoy my life and do something different. Thank you very much to everyone who helped me in my career.” – End – The Audi Group, with its brands Audi, Ducati and Lamborghini, is one of the most successful manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles in the premium segment. • Communiqué De Presse
Communiqué De Presse 10 JUIN 2017 Mixed emotions for Renault e.dams from Saturday’s Berlin ePrix After poor qualifying results that saw Nico Prost start from ninth on the grid and Séb Buemi fourteenth, Renault e.dams drove a strong first race at the Berlin ePrix doubleheader. Championship leader Séb Buemi took fifth place at the chequered flag, with teammate Nico Prost one place adrift in sixth. Postrace, however, Séb was disqualified for his car failing to comply with the minimum tyre pressure. When the lights went out, both drivers made strong starts but failed to make up any positions on the opening lap. Their mission was then to carve their way through the field, with Séb Buemi first to make progress by overtaking Stéphane Sarrazin on lap 7 to go P12. Nico also saw an opportunity and made a bold move on Maro Engel into Turn 1 to take eighth place. A few laps later, Séb was again on the move and made a manoeuvre stick on the inside of Jérôme d’Ambrosio at Turn 9 and gained another place. Before both drivers made their mandatory car swap, Séb Buemi was in ninth position while Nico Prost was seventh. After a great car change, Prost headed back out on track in sixth. It was not long before Séb was back attacking his rivals and made another confident pass on Daniel Abt for P8. With ten laps to go, the title leader pulled off a superb move on Sam Bird and took P7 before overtaking his teammate for P6.

Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi from the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler factory team had a difficult start and finished without points in Diriyah. Tomorrow, they will have a new chance: the next race on the outskirts of Riyadh starts at 3 PM (CET). With a riveting race marked by plenty of tactics, the new Formula E season kicked off in Diriyah on Friday. For the first time since the series started, the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler factory team with Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi finished without points in the opening race of the season. Due to its strong championship positions last season, the German-Brazilian pairing had to go out on the still very dusty track in the first two qualifying groups and were only able to achieve the fifteenth and nineteenth place on the grid. In the race, di Grassi made up six places to finish thirteenth. Daniel Abt was also fighting back, when he was touched by a rival which damaged his front wing causing him to hit the wall.

On Sunday evening, the Brazilian drove his Audi e-tron FE06 from 12th on the grid to sixth in light rain and partially wet track conditions. Before the last two races, the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler driver is tied on points with Max Guenther (BMW) in third place. This means that the runner-up spot of the drivers’ championship is now the target for the last two races of the season this upcoming Wednesday and Thursday in Berlin. Both driver’s and team’s titles were clinched on Sunday. “First of all, congratulations to Antonio Felix da Costa and DS Techeetah on winning the titles,” said Team Principal Allan McNish. “We made the most of our package in qualifying today. • WEC: the Challengers
Communications Motorsport Eva-Maria Veith Tel: +49 173 9393522 E-mail: [email protected] www.audi-motorsport.info WEC: the challengers Lucas di Grassi, Loïc Duval, Oliver Jarvis Ingolstadt, March 9, 2015 – When Lucas di Grassi (BR), Loïc Duval (F) and Oliver Jarvis (GB) start the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in April, they will do so as established Audi drivers. Still, the situation will be completely new for each of them, as they’re forming a driver team for the first time. Oliver Jarvis has been driving for Audi since 2008 while Loïc Duval and Lucas di Grassi have been with the brand since 2012 – together, their time with the four rings amounts to 13 years. The generation change in Audi’s driver line-up is the reason why they now form a team for the first time. Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Dindo Capello, who spent between one and a half and two decades of their careers with Audi, have since retired from their active careers as race drivers. “This gave us the opportunity to combine the three younger talents into a new driver squad,” says Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. Loïc Duval already raced together with Lucas di Grassi last year. Oliver Jarvis, who in the past occupied the third cockpit in WEC races at Spa and at Le Mans, is now contesting all eight WEC rounds as a new regular driver for the first time. “This has always been my big aim. It’s a huge opportunity that I’m determined to make optimum use of together with Lucas and Loïc,” says the pleased 31-year-old Briton from Burwell, who had previously been active for Audi in the DTM for four years and clinched his first sports car victory in the Sebring 12 Hours two years ago.

  • Audi Driver Di Grassi About the New Formula E Season: “Number One Is Tremendous Motivation”
Audi MediaInfo Communications Motorsport Stefan Moser Tel: +49 841 89-35550 E-mail: [email protected] www.audi -mediacenter.com/en Audi driver di Grassi about the new Formula E season: “Number one is tremendous motivation” • Teams and Audi e-tron FE04 race car perfectly prepared • Audi premiere in electric racing series on December 2 and 3 in Hong Kong Neuburg a. d. Donau, November 24, 2017 – Preparations have been completed and the race cars of Team Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler are on their way to Hong Kong where the opening race of the new Formula E season will take place on December 2 and 3. In an interview, the reigning Champion, Lucas di Grassi, talks about his expectations, the new team and its key competitors. Who are the favorites in the title race this season from your point of view? “That’s hard to answer in Formula E – especially before this season. I have very strong expectations of Renault and Mahindra. At the same time, we should have Virgin, Andretti and Jaguar on our radar as well. There are at least five or six teams in contention for winning races. In addition, in André Lotterer, Edoardo Mortara and Kamui Kobayashi there’ll be some strong new drivers, so it’s near-impossible to make any predictions. The only thing we can be sure of is that this will be the hardest fought season in Formula E history to date.” What does contesting the season with number one displayed on your car mean to you? “It’s a good feeling because it shows that we did a good job last season and achieved something exceptional.
