Tercentenary of the birth of Carl Linnaeus The Swedish Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Uppsala University invites you to an international conference on drugs of natural origin, in the honour of the Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus. The conference takes place in Uppsala, the town where Carl Linnaeus once lived and greatly contributed to scientific progress.
Linnaeus’ dissertations on drugs (copies included in the conference fee) The scientific program of the conference is based on four of Linnaeus many dissertations: Medicamenta graveolentia, Sapor medicamentorum, De methodo investigandi vires medicamentorum chemica, and Inebriantia. The program is divided into three themes with a bearing on these dissertations. The historical arena is chosen as a platform from which recent research in the fields of pharmacognosy and natural product chemistry will be high-lighted.
Short lecture – Poster Session Participants are encouraged to present a short lecture or a poster in English. Please indicate on the booking form if you would offer to give a short lecture or present a poster presentation. Abstracts should be sent electronically to Agnetha Ekestam, [email protected], by June th . Abstract instructions will be mailed out with the booking confirmation.

Location, Venue, Language The meeting takes place in Room X (Sal X) in the main building at Uppsala University, located in the center of Uppsala. Registration opens from ., Wednesday, September 5th and the scientific programme starts at . and ends with a closing ceremony on Saturday September th . The meeting will be held in English. You can reach Uppsala from Arlanda airport, by taxi, bus or train (www.arlanda.se).
Social program The social program will include a visit to the museum of Linnaeus in his house situated in central Uppsala, a conference dinner in the Linnaeus botanical garden, and a guided botanical field trip along one of Linnaeus’ herbaciones (flower walks) starting in downtown Uppsala. Immediately following the meeting there is a Cultural Evening in Uppsala town, open to the public (www.uppland.nu/en).
Participation fee and Accommodation The participation fee, which includes documentation and all meals within the program, with exception to the conference dinner, is (approx. € ) before May nd and (approx. € ) after that date.
