Third Grade - Limudei Kodesh

Ruchniyus Update : 2 weeks ago we began our preparation for ¬ë¾ ’ − by learning each day! Using the special Chitas booklets for children prepared by kidschitas.org. We take 5-10 minutes of our day to learn something from the ê−ò³ , ó−ñí³ , ¾ôîì of that day. Knowing how important Chitas is and how often the Rebbe spoke about it, we are confident that this will help strengthen our connection to our- Rebbe and bring Moshiach closer.

Gashmiyus Update : Last week we began playing real hockey during our outdoor recess time. With 24 brand new hockey sticks (12 yellow and 12 red) and special pucks, we are now having so much fun run- ning around during our recesses. Special thanks to Rabbi and Mrs. Grossbaum for sponsoring the hockey equipment for our class. Shabbos mevarchim tehillim winners

Miss Ruppert Sixth Grade - General Studies

I am pleased to report that the 6 th grade has been doing very nicely this quarter – so nicely that we have already had a pizza party to celebrate their success! I am looking forward to the day when we can have another one, as I think everyone in class enjoyed themselves. We’ve covered many subjects in the last month or so in math; including greatest common factor, least common multiple and an introduction to positive and negative integers. We are currently working on learning how to apply the four operations (multiplication, addition, subtraction and division) using posi- tive and negative integers. We will be moving on to the order of operations and mathematic expressions once we finish. In ELA, we worked on various readings and writing activities. Many of the readings have focused on en- dangered animals and different environmental science subjects. Students have been learning new vo- cabulary words to go along with the science unit. We have had some very interesting discussions after such readings and I am looking forward to more as we move further into the unit. Students are in the process of choosing and researching their chosen animal and habitat for their final project. I am greatly looking forward to hearing their findings. We just began discussing Martin Luther King, Jr. and his struggle for civil rights and I am looking forward to the discussion. We are up to unit 15 in spelling. We have been doing short writing pieces for some of the Do Now ac- tivities when we first come into the classroom and students have been doing very well. The writings have been on a range of topics and have been very interesting to read. We also began a reading program during class called Drop Everything and Read, more commonly known in our classroom as DEAR. Stu- dents have been reading a book of their choice during DEAR and they are enjoying it. I am looking forward to working with everyone and I know that we can make this another fantastic quarter!

The NEW Math book

This week Khan Academy was launched for the 7 th Grade and 8 th Grade. The students were able to in- teract on their own individualized level for math and are able to progress at their own pace. If a stu- dent got stuck on a problem he was able to watch a video that explained the concept in a clear fashion. Alternatively, the student would ask the teacher to explain and receive one on one guidance from the teacher.

New Program

Every day after the older grades Shachris Minyan, an 8 th Grade student Avrohom Mordechai Silverstein recites the daily Sefer Hamitzvos. Later on in the day he randomly chooses a student to re- peat the Sefer Hamitzvos. If the student says it correctly he is rewarded with a treat. The winners were Sholomke Rosenbluh and Zalmy Hirsh. tehillim Club

They were also taught what to do in the event of an emergency, how to get off the bus and where to wait. Please reinforce this message with your children by discussing with them safe and appropriate bus be- havior.
