A new building for Ellesmere Port is being constructed on Civic Way at the site of the bus station, next to the Port Arcades shopping centre. The building will provide a central point for public services, with council staff moving into the hub from their current offices. As part of this project, West and Council have commissioned an artist to work with the community of Ellesmere Port to create a design feature (or artwork) to be included in the new building. After a recruitment process, artist Caroline Wright has been chosen to work on the commission and she is hoping to connect with as many people from Ellesmere Port as possible to help develop design ideas that will be meaningful to the townspeople. To do this whilst there are still Covid-19 restrictions in place has its challenges, so Caroline hopes to identify some key people who can act as the voice of the community and help her to understand Ellesmere Port and is people.

If you would like to get involved, please send Caroline any ideas or thoughts you may have. Or perhaps you might want to be a community representative? What is important to you about Ellesmere Port? Is it the history of the town or its character today? What do you love – or hate – about the town? Please send Caroline your: stories recordings memories videos photographs drawings maps objects walks songs

and any other material that represents life in Ellesmere Port! You can send your contributions here: [email protected]. Please include your name and contact details if you are happy to do so and be part of the conversation.

Thank you.
