So last time, Cao Cao was on his way to attack Lu Bu’s strongholds, and Lu Bu was going to go do something about it. His father-and-son adviser team of Chen Gui (4) and Chen Deng (1), however, were in cahoots with Cao Cao, and they were busy plotting Lu Bu’s defeat. Chen Deng was going with Lu Bu, while Chen Gui was to guard Xu Province in their absence. But Chen Gui was worried about the fact that Lu Bu’s family and many of his loyal men were still in the city. So Chen Deng went to see Lu Bu and said, “The province is under attack from all sides, and Cao Cao will no doubt throw everything he’s got at us.
