There is a vibrant and growing Arts Community here, and the Greater Mesquite Arts Foundation (GMAF) is an integral part of the whole. In 2007, a group of like- minded citizens came together and established GMAF, a registered not- for-pro t corporation in Nevada. Growing the Game...The Virgin Valley Junior Golf Association (V V J G A) provides group instruction and a summer tournament program for the area junior golfers to participate in throughout the summer. Program Coordinator Marsha Sherwood and Tom Winchester Junior Program Facilitator, begin in May signing up juniors for the program that starts with clinics in the beginning part of June. The program runs into August capping o with an awards banquet for the young golfers and their families. It is open to all juniors from ages 6 through 18 and are still in school. With strong support by the area courses, instruction is provided by many of the local Golf Professionals with additional help by parents and volunteers. Lessons are held at local courses and Mesquite Gaming donates many of the resources to make the program of 60 juniors a success year in and year out.
