Particularly in Uzbekistan, tourism is an important economic sector, and for the purpose of sustaining the tourism industry, concerted efforts in the development of tourism infrastructure can be seen. For example, new and modern hotels are built; historical and scenic places are refurbished; recreational facilities and transportation provisions are enhanced. All these improvements create extensive and favorable conditions to attract international travellers, promote the country's tourism industry, and extend the cooperation with foreign tourism industry partners. The marketing projects, mega-info-tours organised by the national company Uzbektourism, have seen to produce good results in promoting tourism industry in the country. The implementation of such large-scale projects has further developed and enhanced the tourism services in the country including hotel and transportation services. This enhancement will certainly benefit the country's economic growth thereby upgrading the wellbeing of people. The aim of the conference is to address the issues of tourism’s roles in Uzbekistan. The conference organisers invited papers relevant to hospitality and tourism management, specifically addressing the following four main areas: 1. Contemporary aspects of global tourism industry 2. Specific factors affecting tourism development in Uzbekistan 3. Human resources and development in tourism industry 4. Economic impact of tourism on investment and employment During the conference, academia and business representatives delivered, and at the same time, gained valuable knowledge by sharing their findings with the invited guests, faculty members and fellow students. Through the exchange of ideas and feedback received, participants would improve their research work and might possibly publish their work in international journals. Moreover, the event provided students with the opportunity to present their research work in a real conference setting and granted them the chance to gain experience in a professional environment. These proceedings present the papers selected, which were reviewed by the Conference Expert Group among the submissions by students, academia and practitioners from Uzbekistan, and abroad. in Conference Organising Committees Organising Committee 1.
