Darren Cranford Keyframe Digital Productions {Canada}

Darren Cranford is the Director and Co-Founder of Keyframe Digital Productions, Inc. Darren oversees the creative development and production of inspiring visual effects and animation for feature and broadcast projects. With over 20 years’ experience, Keyframe is one of the major players in visual effects and animation in Ontario, Canada. Darren grew up in Botwood, Newfoundland, and did his Bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Corner Brook. Cranford’s strength as a VFX Director is based upon the unique vision he brings to every project he works on. He lends a cinematic eye to animation, and thinks outside of the box in the creation of visual effects. Cranford is dedicated to creating the highest quality work while promoting an environment where people enjoy working. Cranford recently directed 26 episodes of the second season of “Ollie: The Boy Who Became What He Ate” for CBC, was the Animation Supervisor for “Tee and Mo” for BBC, and has directed many internal animated projects. Cranford also directs the VFX work for Keyframe. Keyframe is currently going into its fourth season “The Expanse” for Amazon. Michael Hefferon Mainframe Studios {Canada}

Throughout his 25-year entertainment industry career, Michael Hefferon has catapulted the growth of established business operations around the globe using his unique combination of creative and strategic experience. On the strategic side, Michael has successfully guided multiple creative companies to profitability resulting in sale or recapitalization. On the creative side, Michael has built numerous successful project slates as an executive and successfully created and run shows as an Executive Producer, Writer and Story Editor. Most recently, Michael has conceived and executed a 360 degree approach to content production that takes advantage of media’s diversification across platforms and windows. As an example of Michael’s complementary skillset, he created Rainmaker’s new “ReBoot: The Guardian Code” series, conceived the project’s 360 degree content approach utilizing the UnReal game engine {delivering in stunning 4K}, and led Rainmaker’s development of an Unreal-based game-engine pipeline to produce the project simultaneously in multiple platforms. Dominic Minns Plug-in Media Group {UK}

Dominic is the Creative Director and co-founder of Plug-In Media, a digital production company based in the UK. Be it creating digital strategies and interactive experiences for third party brands or conceiving and developing Plug-In’s original IP, Dominic has been responsible for Plug-In’s creative output since the company began. Over the 17 years he has been creating content for children, Dom has conceived of and directed: games, digital toys, 2D and 3D linear animation, interactive stories, creativity tools, educational apps, playable narrative, VR experiences, adult comedy, websites, transmedia brands, and music albums, working with broadcasters and production companies across the world. Plug-In Media’s projects have won many awards, including 4 BAFTAs. Dom is the creator of “Big Billy Little Billy”, created for Nick Jr. US and “Tee and Mo”, the first brand ever to be commissioned by the BBC following an interactive debut, with the first series released on CBeebies and TVO in 2018.

Emily Paige E*D Films {Canada}

Emily Paige has an Honours BA in Literature and Art History, and is a Co-owner and Creative Producer at E*D Films, a Montréal-based animation studio and tools maker. Since 2007, the studio’s work has been recognized with a Webby award for Best Animation, an ARTE International Pixel Prize, and has received 130 other awards, nominations and official selections at festivals around the globe. Since 2015, E*D Films has focused on research and development to enhance tools and workflows for cinematic animation production and related storytelling experiences. Project highlights include “Monster Fish” (National Geographic Museum), “Giant Bear” (Taqqut Productions), “Let There Be Light” (EyeSteelFilm), “Hairy Hill” (E*D Films), “FLEE VR” (Sun Creature Studios), and “Elemented” (in development with ). Fonda Snyder Alchemy Ink {USA}

Recognized for her achievement in children’s entertainment, Fonda Snyder has developed and sold more than 50 projects worldwide for television networks and major feature film studios with two features in development at Dreamworks, and TV series at Universal, PBS, Nick Jr. and Disney XD among others. She currently serves as President of Alchemy Ink, representing authors and illustrators including Pulitzer Prize winning author-artist Berkeley Breathed, Hilary Duff, the Jim Henson Co. and Kevin Costner. Snyder recently served as Development Consultant for 9 Story Entertainment and prior as VP Creative Development & Sales for Rainmaker Entertainment. While an Executive at Technicolor, Snyder created the business plan for and launched its IP division, selling numerous projects to major networks. Previously, Snyder was VP Original Movies for . Early in her career, Snyder co-founded Storyopolis, a franchise oriented family entertainment company encompassing production with a first look deal at Warner Bros. and Dimension-Miramax, book publishing, art gallery, an exhibition space and a retail outlet financed by billionaire Paul Allen. Ken Faier, the founder and driving force behind Epic Story Media, is a globally recognized industry veteran with over 20 years of commitment to producing quality content for children across multiple platforms. Social events Monday 1st October | The Welcome Dinner Cocktail presented by SODEC and 10th Ave will take place at 19:00 at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Wednesday 3rd October | You are invited to a short drink after the last one-to-one meetings, at 16:40. We will enjoy this closing drink to announce the winners of Cartoon Connection Awards 2018. During the evening, all participants will have the opportunity to attend a hockey match in the Videotron Center. We will also have our Farewell dinner there. A memorable time to come!
