Todd Glaesmann | Class of 2009

Todd Glaesmann is being inducted into the Hall of Fame as an Outstanding Athlete. Todd began competing on the varsity level beginning as a sophomore in 2006-2007. In baseball, Todd was selected as All-District and received a Super Cen-Tex Honorable Mention. During his junior year, Todd was District MVP, Super Cen-Tex MVP, 1st Team All-State, an Under Armour All American and Rawlings Post Season All American. During his senior campaign, Todd was Rawl- ings Pre-Season All American and again selected 1st Team All-State, District MVP, and Super Cen- Tex MVP.

During his time at Midway, Todd was also an extremely talented football player and was selected All-District in both 2007 and 2008. Second team Super Cen-Tex in 2008 and was an integral member of the 2008 State-Quarterfinalist Team.

In 2009, Todd was selected in the 3rd round of the MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Being named 2012 Minor League Player of the Year in the Ray’s Organization and AAA Player of the Week in 2015. In all, Todd played 6 years in the MLB minor leagues, representing the Rays, Diamondbacks and Cubs during his professional career.

Judy Holcomb | Class of 1991

Judy Holcomb is being inducted tonight as an Outstanding Athlete. Judy was a mem- ber of the Midway Pantherette varsity basketball teams from 1987-1991. Judy was a 4 year letter winner, 3-time all district and 3-time All-State basketball player during her high school career.

During her junior season, Judy led the team to the state tournament. Midway lost to Corpus Christi Calallen in the championship game in front of 8,988 people (the largest crowd ever to see a girls’ basketball game at the time). Judy earned a spot on the State All-Tournament team and was named Cen-Tex Player of the Year in 1990.

During her senior campaign, Judy would again rack up several individual accolades; she earned the title Cen-Tex Player of the Year, named to the TABC All Star Game and winning the Waco Chamber of Commerce Sportsmanship Award.

Additionally, in her senior year, Judy was named a Street and Smith All-American, a Converse All-American and a Dick Vitale All-American, while earning the Class 4A Co-Player of the Year award.

Upon graduation, Judy earned a basketball scholarship to the University of .

John Hubert | Class of 2009

John is being inducted as an Outstanding Football Athlete. John Hubert competed on the var- sity football team for two years in 2007 and 2008. During those two years on varsity, John set several Midway and city records. John scored a school record of 63 touchdowns and totaled 4,600 rushing yards, averaging 191 rushing yards per game. During his senior campaign, John broke the single season city rushing title set by NFL Hall of Famer, LaDainian Tomlinson by rush- ing for 2,524 yards leading the Panthers to a 12-2 mark and reaching the State Quarterfinals.

John Hubert finished his career ranking #33 in the Texas Top 100 Recruits and the #4 running back in Texas. John was also honored with the title of 2007 and 2008 District Offensive MVP, 2008 Super Cen-Tex Offensive MVP and 2008 First Team All-State.

Upon graduation, John accepted a division 1 scholarship to play for legendary football coach Bill Snyder at Kansas State Uni- versity. John was a four-year letter winner and a three-year starter for the Wildcats earning a #2 ranking in the nation and First Team All-Big 12 in 2012. John ranks 2nd in K-State history for career rushing yards, 4th in rushing attempts, 6th in both touchdowns and yards per carry. John’s on-field ability helped the Wildcats qualify for 4 straight bowl games.

Sherry Rogers | 1985-2010

Coach Rogers is being inducted as an Outstanding Coach and Educator. Sherry Rogers graduated from Midway High School in 1980 and came back to Midway in 1985 to begin her coaching career; coaching , basketball and track. Coach Rogers became the head coach of the MHS program in 1993, the year it became an official, UIL-sanctioned sport. Coach Rogers led the Pantherettes from 1993 to her retirement in 2010 after winning her 2nd state title. Along the way, she compiled a career record of 486 wins against 91 losses (competing in 5A classification from 1993-1995). The Pantherettes qualified for the state tournament a total of 8 times under Coach Rogers, winning state twice in 1998 and 2010.

During her tenure as head coach, the Panthettes had a district record of 185-5, losing only one home district game in her eighteen years. In fact, under her leadership, the Pantherettes won eighteen consecutive district championships.

Coach Rogers won Cen-Tex Coach of the Year 6 times, was inducted into the Texas Girls’ Coaches Hall of Fame in 2011 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
