Highlights on 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015)
MUNICIPALITY OF CALUYA
The population of the Municipality of Caluya, Antique as of August 1, 2015 was 35,496 based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015).
The 2015 population is higher by 5,450 compared with the population of 30,046 in 2010, and higher by 9,970 and 15,447 compared with 2007 and 2000, respectively. Refer to Table 1.

The Municipality of Caluya population increased by 3.22 percent annually, on average, during the period 2010 to 2015. By comparison, this growth rate is slower than at which the province grew during the period 2000 to 2010 and from 2007 to 2010 at a rate of 4.13 percent and 6.11 percent, respectively. See Table 2.

Of the municipality’s 18 barangays, Semirara had the biggest population in 2015 with 12,434 persons. The other top four barangays include Harigue (3,292), Tinogboc (2,586), Alegria (2,468) and Poblacion (1,856). The combined population of these five (5) barangays accounted for almost 63.8 percent of Caluya’s population in 2015. See Table 3.

Dionela was the smallest barangay in terms of population size with 316 persons. Four other barangays at the bottom five, namely Bacong (640), Bonbon (662), Dawis (785) and Sabang (873).
The barangay of Alegria was the fastest growing barangay with an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 7.12 percent. The second fastest growing barangay with an average annual population growth rate at 5.41 percent from 2010 to 2015 was Imba, followed by Semirara at 3.98 percent, Harigue at 3.91 percent and Dawis at 3.39 percent. Caluya has a population density of 259 persons in every square kilometer. This is higher by 39 persons per square kilometer in 2010 with population density of 220 with a percent change of 18.1 percent from 2010-2015.
The population of Caluya in 2015 which was 35,496 is 6.09 percent of the total population of Antique which was 582,012 in the same year.

The POPCEN was undertaken by the Philippine Statistics Authority in August 2015 pursuant to Republic Act No. 10625, also known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 and executive Order 352- Designation of Statistical Activities That Will Generate Critical Data for Decision-Making of the Government and the Private Sector, which stipulates the conduct of a mid-decade census primarily to update the population in all barangays nationwide.
Information on the count of the population was collected with 12:01 a.m. of August 1, 2015 as the census reference time and date.
His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III declared as official for all purposes the population counts of the province, city/municipality, and barangay, based on the POPCEN 2015 under Proclamation No. 1269 dated 18 May 2016. The population counts were based on census questionnaires accomplished by about 750 enumerators and supervisors deployed during the nationwide census taking.
The successful completion of the census-taking was made possible with the support of the local and national officials, government agencies, local government units, media, private agencies, and non-government organizations.
The Philippine Statistics Authority Antique Provincial Statistical Office would like to extend grateful appreciation and commendation for the full support, cooperation and assistance of the member-agencies of the Provincial Census Coordination Board chaired by the Provincial Governor, Municipal Census Coordination Board with Municipal Mayor as the Chairman, all local and national agencies, the Barangay Officials, media, non-government organizations/agencies, the Supervisors and Enumerators who are the frontliners of this undertaking, all households, institutions and general public who made the census in the province a resounding and meaningful success.
