Kindred Births and Planetary Recurrences: Seeking the Larger 'Scope' of the Birth Moment
Kindred births and planetary recurrences: Seeking the larger 'scope' of the birth moment A natal chart is pretty well defined by the moment of birth, in which all is captured as a still life, a snapshot of the solar system. Natal astrology is focused on this point in time, but what if we step back to view it in a broader context? When we zoom out from the natal chart and shift our attention to the planets in motion, the birth moment becomes the center of a wider time window. We become aware of planet events, like aspect contacts (perfections), stations and sign ingresses. These events often coincide within a few days, and can be studied in this way, which is the topic of my research. The idea of finding parallels between lives separated by decades or centuries is not a new one, but applying it to the development of a new astrological method seems very much out of the blue. I begin with the question of whether it is possible to discern any parallels between lives with common natal planet patterns. The first problem is how to define these patterns, my choice being to make use of planetary events around the birthdate, and to use a time limit of a week on either side -- what we might call a time-based orb. If astrology is truly about time, this approach gives me hope for a more complete understanding of that truth. In the zodiac, the planetary aspects are based on geometric figures, and they combine to form aspect patterns. -

They’d just hired it for a couple of months… …My goal was to make the music I’d actually like to listen to. … …I was clearly imagining life without a band at all, imagining a music I could make alone, like the painter I always wanted to be.” – Robert Wyatt, 2012 Some have called this - the complete set of Robert Wyatt's solo recordings made in the US in late 1968 - the ultimate Holy Grail. Half of the material here is not only previously unreleased - it had never been heard, even by the most dedicated collectors of Wyatt rarities. Until reappearing, seemingly out of nowhere, last year, the demo for “Rivmic Melodies”, an extended sequence of song fragments destined to form the first side of the second album by Soft Machine (the band Wyatt had helped form in 1966 as drummer and lead vocalist, and with whom he had recorded an as-yet unreleased debut album in New York the previous spring), was presumed lost forever. As for the shorter song discovered on the same acetate, “Chelsa”, it wasn't even known to exist! This music was conceived by Wyatt while off the road during and after Soft Machine's second tour of the US with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, first in New York City during the summer of 1968, then in the fall of that year while staying at the Experience's rented house in California, where he was granted free access to the TTG recording facility during studio downtime. -
LISTEN: the Versions (CL) Drop Classic Jacobites' Cut “Fortune of Fame” Off Forthcoming Album, 'Calling Lucifer'
The Versions Nov 20, 2020 01:27 GMT LISTEN: The Versions (CL) drop classic Jacobites' cut “Fortune of Fame” off forthcoming album, 'Calling Lucifer' By Iggy PotNovember 19, 2020 The Versionshave a new cover ofThe Jacobites‘ (Nikki Sudden and Dave Kusworth) track“Fortune of Fame.” The cut is off the Chilean garage rock band’s upcoming Calling Lucifer LP due out November 26th onAlgo Records. Formed in 2004 by The Ganjas Samuel Maqueira and Aldo Benincasa, the forthcoming record will be their third release. Drawing on influences like the Flamin’ Groovies, Iggy Pop and James Williamson‘s Kill City LP, as well as Dogs d’amour, Calling Lucifer contains the aforementioned Jacobites’ cover and a version of the Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers‘ track “It’s Not Enough.” View embedded content here Reprobate Media · The Versions - Fortune Of Fame “Fortune of Fame”is one of those minor, forgotten classics. Nikki Sudden had formed Swell Maps with his brother Epic Soundtracks back in the early ’70s, and their noisy DIY sound and spirit would go on to have a significant influence on post-punk and the following generations of alternative music. After disbanding in the early ’80s, Nikki Sudden joined forces with Dave Kusworth to form The Jacobites. “Fortune of Fame” is off the group’s first LP, Robespierre’s Velvet Basement (Glass Records). Brimming with urban despair but defiant in the face of it, the cut is perfect territory for The Versions to show off their own brand of rock and roll attitude. The Versions will be featured at this year’s Monkey Week Festival in Spain. -
