The services offered by the Diocese of Warangal are admired and even publicly acknowledged by the government, non-Catholics, especially the poor. The need for our social and charitable and empowering services still exists as we go to the marginalized even geographically. Our main focus is on the rural people, and therefore, in addition to the schools, we have some hostels for boys and girls with tuition facilities to coach poor students. Locally we support current seminarian Brent Smith. That support comes in a variety of ways. We host a dinner in Brent’s honor annually when he is in town. Last year (2017) it was Divine Mercy Dinner.
This year, due to scheduling, we are hos ng it on Saturday July 28th. This is truly a blessed weekend, as it is a 5th Sunday weekend and it is actually the day that Brent comes home from Omaha NE where he will be finishing up a forma on at the Ins tute for Priestly Forma on.
In addi on to this annual dinner for “one of our own” there is the Annual Voca ons Raffle is THE fundraiser that supports this Charity of the Knights. Many of you support this drive every year - ckets are $1 each and a book of 15 is $15.00. There is a total of $20,000 in prizes is drawn with the grand prize being $10,000. While the exact agenda and menu are still being planned, we want to get the “SAVE THE DATE” to all parishioners so you mark your calendar. A family style feast of a dinner will be served at 6:30 pm with the cost to at- tend as a Free Will Offering. Proceeds are earmarked for the Vocations / Seminarians that the Knight’s of Columbus support, like our own Brent Smith. Preced- ing dinner, immediately following the 5pm Mass will be a Family Rosary. Please join us as we will walk the Parish grounds, pray- ing a decade at The Mary Grotto, at the stat- ue of the Holy Family, at the path of the Sta- tions of The Cross, at the Fire Pit and in our Sacred Church. Shining Light is proud to announce that they received a grant from the Joliet Diocese Catholic Campaign of Human De- velopment for its Anti-Human Trafficking Project 2018. This year Shining Light wants to establish a task force to net- work organizations and individuals to work together to eliminate the commercial exploitation of children in the area (sex trafficking).
