Home TamilNadu Map District Profile Print PROFILE • Ramanathapuram is a coastal district bounded by Bay of Bengal in the East and South, Sivaganga district in the North, Virudhunagar district in the West, and Thoothukkudi district in the Southwest. • The District lies between 09º06'00”N to 09º54’00'N Latitude, 78º13’00'E to 79º26’00”E Longitude and has an areal extent of 4175 sq.km. • There are 11 Blocks, 429 Villages and 2575 Habitations in the District

Physiography and Drainage: Physiographically, the entire district is a plain terrain. There are seasonal rivers named as Sarugani River, Manimuthar River, Vaigai River and Vaippar River etc.

Sustainability:: With a view to enhance the Sustainability of the drinking water sources, recharge structures are being implemented by TWAD Board under various State and Central Government assistances. The Recharge Structures implemented so far is as under.
