En el calentamiento previo a la final, Bolt volvió a sentir molestias y prefirió parar antes de forzar y ocasionarse una lesión mayor. "Después de sentir molestias en el tendón del bíceps femoral en la primera ronda y de nuevo en semifinales, fui examinado por el médico jefe del campeonato nacional y me diagnosticaron un desgarro de grado 1", publicó Bolt en una red social.
