REPLACEMENT OF CANTON I-895 OVER I-95 RAMPS, RAILROADS & CITY STS. AND REHABILITATION OF BALTIMORE HARBOR & TUNNEL APPROACHES

The following is a summary of the supplemental information presented at the May 17, 2017 Kick-off meeting that is not included in the slides. Refer to the meeting minutes for questions and responses and discussions held prior to and after the presentation.

These Sequence of Construction, and Substructure Details for plans are not included in any of the plan volumes shown on Structure S1 the Left Screen, Slide 2.  Volume 3B contains the superstructure details for Structure S1  Volume 4 contains the details for all of the other structures in the Contract and details for the rehabilitation of the tunnel except the tile and fire suppression system.  Volume 5 contains details for the tunnel fire suppression system and the relocation of the 16” water main at Ponca Street.  All volumes except Volume 5 are 22” x 34” plan sheets.

Access will need to be maintained into and out of this facility on the roadway crossing below I-895.  The parking area for the Canton Railroad employees will be temporarily relocated to a parking lot next to the firehouse. This is located on the opposite side of Holabird Avenue from the existing Canton Railroad parking lot. Volume 2 plans contain the layout for the temporary parking lot.  Extensive railroad coordination will be required in order for this project to be successful.  Contract includes provision for a Railroad Liaison employed by the Contractor whose sole purpose is to coordinate activities between the Contractor, the Railroads and MDTA.  Railroad Activities Impact specification addresses how Contractor activities that are impacted by Railroad activities will be handled.
