Bermuda Conference of Seventh-day Adventists 31st Annual Camp Meeting GodGod FirstFirst

June 29- July 7, 2018 7:00 p.m. nightly

President’s Message

The theme of our 31st Annual Camp Meeting is First Things First: God First. In His model Jesus taught His disciples how to put God first in the first three petitions of this most famous prayer.

1. Hallowed be Thy Name. The first petition asks that we make God’s Name holy in our lives. It suggests that we begin our prayer by exalting Him, and by lifting Him up and making Him large and in charge of our lives. In fact, this first petition is very instructive because the book Steps to Christ says: to pray in His name means to have His Spirit; work His works, and represent His character in our lives. Put Him first by making His Name glo- rious in your life.

Dr. Kenneth Manders 2. Thy Kingdom Come. This second petition places a premium on President putting His interest above our own. It means that we place higher value on His Kingdom than on this earth, by advancing His work, witnessing to others of His love, and by using our gifts and talents to hasten His second coming so that we can go home to live with Him. We put God first by engaging in evange- lism.

3. Thy Will Be Done. The third petition in the model prayer in- vites us to surrender our wills, to His. The Psalmist David said: I delight to do Thy will Oh my God, yea or yes; your law is in my heart. Make Him first through a full surrender of your life to Him.

Please notice that the first three petitions of the model prayer have nothing to do with what we want, but everything to do with what God wants. May we walk away from this Camp meeting putting first things first: God First.

2 THEME SONG

“In Christ Alone”

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid Ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone! Who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns to take me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

15 #598 - Watch, Ye Saints #340 - Jesus Saves

We have heard a joyful sound, Watch, ye saints, with eyelids waking; Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Lo! the powers of heaven are shaking; Spread the gladness all around, Keep your lamps all trimmed and burning, Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Ready for your Lord’s returning. Bear the news to every land, Climb the steeps and cross the waves, Refrain: Onward, ’tis our Lord’s command, Lo! he comes, lo! Jesus comes; Jesus saves, Jesus saves. Lo! He comes, He comes all glorious! Jesus comes to reign victorious, Waft it on the rolling tide, Lo! He comes, yes, Jesus comes! Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Tell to sinners, far and wide, Lo! the promise of your Savior, Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Pardoned sin and purchased favor, Sing, ye islands of the sea. Blood-washed robes and crowns of glory; Echo back, ye ocean caves, Haste to tell redemption’s story. Earth shall keep her jubilee, Jesus saves, Jesus saves. Kingdoms at their base are crumbling, Hark! His chariot wheels are rumbling; Sing above the battle’s strife, Tell, O tell of grace abounding, Jesus saves, Jesus saves; While the seventh trump is sounding. By His death and endless life, Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Sing it softly through the gloom, Nations wane, though proud and stately; When the heart for mercy craves, Christ His kingdom hasteneth greatly; Sing in triumph o’er the tomb, Earth her latest pangs is summing; Jesus saves, Jesus saves. Shout, ye saints, your Lord is coming. Give the winds a mighty voice, Sinners, come, while Christ is pleading; Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Now for you He’s interceding; Let the nations now rejoice, Haste, ere grace and time diminished Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Shall proclaim the mystery finished. Shout salvation full and free, Highest hills and deepest caves, This our song of victory, Jesus saves, Jesus saves.

16 #645 - God of Our Fathers #428 - Sweet By and By

God of our fathers, whose almighty hand There’s a land that is fairer than day, Leads forth in beauty all the starry band And by faith we can see it afar; Of shining worlds in splendor For the Father waits over the way through the skies To prepare us a dwelling place there. Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Refrain: Thy love divine hath led us in the past, In the sweet by and by, In this free land by Thee our lot is cast, We shall meet on that beautiful shore; Be Thou our ruler, guardian, guide and stay, In the sweet by and by Thy word our law, We shall meet on that beautiful shore. Thy paths our chosen way.

We shall sing on that beautiful shore From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence, The melodious songs of the blest, Be Thy strong arm our ever sure defense; And our spirits shall sorrow no more Thy true religion in our hearts increase, Not a sigh for the blessing of rest. Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace. To our bountiful father above We will offer our tribute of praise; Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way, For the glorious gift of His love Lead us from night to never ending day; And the blessings that hallow our days. Fill all our lives with love and grace divine, And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.

26 #633 - When We All Get #422 - Marching to Zion to Heaven

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus; Come, we that love the Lord, Sing his mercy and His grace. And let our joys be known; In the mansions bright and blessed Join in a song with sweet accord, He’ll prepare for us a place. Join in a song with sweet accord, And thus surround the throne, And thus surround the throne. Refrain: When we all get to heaven, Refrain: What a day of rejoicing that will be! We’re marching to Zion, When we all see Jesus, Beautiful, beautiful Zion; We’ll sing and shout the victory! We’re marching upward to Zion, The beautiful city of God.

While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky; Let those refuse to sing But when traveling days are over, Who never knew our God; Not a shadow, not a sigh. But children of the heavenly King, But children of the heavenly King May speak their joys abroad, Let us then be true and faithful, May speak their joys abroad. Trusting, serving every day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay. The hill of Zion yields A thousand sweets Before we reach the heavenly fields, Onward to the prize before us! Before we reach the heavenly fields Soon His beauty we’ll behold; Or walk the golden streets, Soon the pearly gates will open; Or walk the golden streets. We shall tread the streets of gold.

Then let our songs abound And every tear be dry; We’re marching thru Immanuel’s ground, We’re marching thru Immanuel’s ground To fairer worlds on high, To fairer worlds on high.

27 #100 - Great Is Thy #216 - When the Roll Is Faithfulness Called Up Yonder

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; When the trumpet of the Lord There is no shadow of turning with Thee; shall sound, Thou changest not, and time shall be no more, Thy compassions, they fail not; And the morning breaks, eternal, As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be. bright and fair; When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore, Refrain: And the roll is called up yonder, Great is Thy faithfulness! I’ll be there. Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see. Refrain: All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; When the roll is called up yonder, Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! When the roll is called up yonder, When the roll is called up yonder, When the roll is called up yonder, Summer and winter and I’ll be there. springtime and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above On that bright and cloudless morning, Join with all nature in manifold witness when the dead in Christ shall rise, To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. And the glory of His resurrection share; When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies, Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth And the roll is called up yonder, Thine own dear presence I’ll be there. to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright Let us labor for the Master hope for tomorrow, from the dawn till setting sun, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care, Then, when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done, And the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there.
