I picked it up The Winning Hand a used library book sale awhile back. Believe me, I have scads of these for such moments. Darcy Wallace is from Kansas. She is beautiful and naive, and has been engaged to a very controlling and unkind man that makes her feel like she is less than she is. She breaks off the engagement and flees to Las Vegas. She finds herself at The Comanche Casino and I was in the mood for another romance novel so I grabbed this off of my bookshelf. She finds herself at The Comanche Casino and puts her last few dollars in a slot machine and hits the jackpot and is an instant millionaire. Mac immediately feels responsible for her so he puts her up in a hotel suite until she sorts things out and gets on her feet. What he didn't expect, though, was that he might feel more for her than just responsible. Darcy spreads her wings The Winning Hand all things become possible. She finds out that she is a strong, smart and independent woman and The Winning Hand she can do anything. But what she wants most of all is for Mac to love her. This book is just one of several books written about The MacGregors. Its sweet and fun and I loved watching Darcy discover what she is capable of and watching Mac realize that fate dealt him "The Winning Hand" when Darcy walked into his casino. We all live ordinary lives. And then The Winning Hand dream. We dream of being rich, being famous, being a trendsetter, winning the lottery. Yes, we ALL The Winning Hand to be that girl, the one who hit the jackpot! The Winning Hand cashes in on all of The Winning Hand deepest fantasies of instant wealth and a hot guy to love. She's punchy from walking in the desert sun with no food, water or The Winning Hand. Mac is the ultimate gambler, but he has met his match in this fairy-like, naive looking Kansas girl on the lucky streak of a lifetime. He feels an urge to protect the innocent, overwhelmed Darcy from the wolves already baying at the door for her newfound wealth. Darcy, for her part, is alone and friendless in a strange town and is only too happy to trust her instincts and put her faith in Mac and his charming family. The MacGregors has got to be my mostest favoritest romance series of all time. The family saga, spanning three generations and ten books, is heartwarming and charming. Read objectively, The Winning Hand is pretty awful in parts, especially the bits where Mac takes on a decidedly paternalistic air The Winning Hand tries to dictate what is best for Darcy; thankfully, despite being one of Nora's The Winning Hand submissive heroines, Darcy isn't a total wimp and manages to retain her own personality throughout. But the real charm of this story, for me, is its fairytale aspect. First you have the sheltered princess who runs away from the evil ogre. Then The Winning Hand wins a ton of money so she can ensure her continued liberation. Wish-fulfillment fantasy Number 1 Then she meets Prince Charming, who shelters her in his castle. When the ogre comes to take the princess away, they face him down together. Then the prince and the princess fall The Winning Hand love. The Winning Hand fantasy Number 2 There are some minor hurdles to cross on the path to true love, but eventually, the prince and the princess kiss and make up That's The Winning Hand quite the kind of kissing I was looking for! Wish-fulfillment fantasy Number 3 to 1 million View all 10 comments. Sweet, love story of The Winning Hand meets the charming devil in The winning Hand. When a gamble at the Comanche hotel leads her into being a millionaire, the owner Mac Blade, oldest of Serena and Justin decides to help her. Instantly charmed by the waif whose eyes are full of dreams, he introduces her to the money filled new world. The story is mostly about her finding her footing and courage, the couple Sweet, love story of angel meets the charming devil in The winning Hand. The story is mostly about her finding her footing and courage, the couple falling for each other, the hero fighting his feelings mixed with some good old Mac Gregor clan moments.     Deana Carter DEANA CARTER, the daughter of famed studio guitarist and producer Fred Carter, Jr., grew up surrounded by musical greats, including Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Waylon Jennings, and Simon & Garfunkel. She developed her songwriting skills at writer’s nights throughout Nashville, but her real break came when one of her demo tapes fell into the hands of Willie Nelson, who remembered Deana as a child. Impressed with how she’d grown as a songwriter, Nelson asked Deana to perform along with John Mellencamp, Kris Kristofferson, and Neil Young, as the only female solo artist to appear at Farm Aid VII in 1994. Her 1996 debut album Did I Shave My Legs for This? quickly climbed to the top of both the country and pop charts, quickly achieving multi-platinum status. "Strawberry Wine,” the first single from the album, was awarded CMA's 1997 Single of the Year. Seven albums and a decade later, Deana is still writing and producing for both the pop/rock and country markets when not on the road touring. Her superstar success continues to be evident. Her chart topper “You & Tequila,” co-written with Matraca Berg and recorded by Kenny Chesney, was nominated in 2011 as CMA’s “Song of the Year” and received two Grammy nods. Carter also recently co-wrote and produced a new album for recording artist Audra Mae while putting the finishing touches on her own Southern Way of Life that hit the shelves last December.     MultiMillion-selling singer Crystal Gayle has performed songs from a wide variety of genres during her award-studded career, but she has never devoted an album to classic country music. Until now. You Don’t Know Me​ is a collection that finds the acclaimed stylist exploring the songs of such country legends as George Jones, Patsy Cline, Buck Owens and Eddy Arnold. The album might come as a surprise to those who associate Crystal with an uptown sound that made her a star on both country and adult-contemporary pop charts. But she has known this repertoire of hardcore country standards all her life. “This wasn’t a stretch at all,” says Crystal. “These are songs I grew up singing. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time. “The songs on this album aren’t songs I sing in my concerts until recently. But they are very much a part of my history.” Each of the selections was chosen because it played a role in her musical development. Two of them point to the importance that her family had in bringing her to fame. You Don’t Know Me contains the first recorded trio vocal performance by Crystal with her singing sisters Loretta Lynn and Peggy Sue. It is their version of Dolly Parton’s “Put It Off Until Tomorrow.” “You Never Were Mine” comes from the pen of her older brother, Jay Lee Webb (1937-1996). The two were always close. Jay Lee was the oldest brother still living with the family when their father passed away.
