I picked it up The Winning Hand a used library book sale awhile back. Believe me, I have scads of these for such moments. Darcy Wallace is from Kansas. She is beautiful and naive, and has been engaged to a very controlling and unkind man that makes her feel like she is less than she is. She breaks off the engagement and flees to Las Vegas. She finds herself at The Comanche Casino and I was in the mood for another romance novel so I grabbed this off of my bookshelf. She finds herself at The Comanche Casino and puts her last few dollars in a slot machine and hits the jackpot and is an instant millionaire. Mac immediately feels responsible for her so he puts her up in a hotel suite until she sorts things out and gets on her feet. What he didn't expect, though, was that he might feel more for her than just responsible. Darcy spreads her wings The Winning Hand all things become possible. She finds out that she is a strong, smart and independent woman and The Winning Hand she can do anything. But what she wants most of all is for Mac to love her. This book is just one of several books written about The MacGregors. Its sweet and fun and I loved watching Darcy discover what she is capable of and watching Mac realize that fate dealt him "The Winning Hand" when Darcy walked into his casino. Yes, we ALL The Winning Hand to be that girl, the one who hit the jackpot! The Winning Hand cashes in on all of The Winning Hand deepest fantasies of instant wealth and a hot guy to love. She's punchy from walking in the desert sun with no food, water or The Winning Hand. Mac is the ultimate gambler, but he has met his match in this fairy-like, naive looking Kansas girl on the lucky streak of a lifetime. He feels an urge to protect the innocent, overwhelmed Darcy from the wolves already baying at the door for her newfound wealth. Darcy, for her part, is alone and friendless in a strange town and is only too happy to trust her instincts and put her faith in Mac and his charming family. The MacGregors has got to be my mostest favoritest romance series of all time. The family saga, spanning three generations and ten books, is heartwarming and charming. Read objectively, The Winning Hand is pretty awful in parts, especially the bits where Mac takes on a decidedly paternalistic air The Winning Hand tries to dictate what is best for Darcy; thankfully, despite being one of Nora's The Winning Hand submissive heroines, Darcy isn't a total wimp and manages to retain her own personality throughout. But the real charm of this story, for me, is its fairytale aspect. First you have the sheltered princess who runs away from the evil ogre. Then The Winning Hand wins a ton of money so she can ensure her continued liberation. Wish-fulfillment fantasy Number 1 Then she meets Prince Charming, who shelters her in his castle. When the ogre comes to take the princess away, they face him down together. Then the prince and the princess fall The Winning Hand love. It was released on November 1,by Monument Records. The album was produced by Fred Fosterfounder and chairman of the board of Monument, and contains some newly-recorded material as well as catalog material with new instrumental tracks. The album also inspired a television special of the same name hosted by Johnny Cashwho had written the album's liner notes. The special featuring all four performers aired in over markets in March and April The album was announced in the September 4, issue of Billboard as the The Winning Hand release by Monument Records through a new distribution deal with CBS. The album was released on November 1, The album's cover art depicts the four artists as kings and queens on a deck of cards. This artwork was utilized on posters, promotional decks of cards and other point-of-sale materials spotlighting the album's theme. Monument printed approximately 5, decks of The Winning Hand "Winning Hand" cards, with Nelson and Kristofferson as the kings, Lee and Parton as The Winning Hand queens. They were sent to pop, adult contemporary and country radio stations and a limited quantity was sent to retail locations nationally. Two weekends in November were designated as "Winning Hand Weekends" at key radio stations, including more than 60 country stations. The participating stations received 25 copies of the album and first single for giveaways. Additionally, Monument used the album's cover graphics to make a series of four-color byinch posters. Each poster was limited to 3, copies against red, green or blue backgrounds for in-store display. Along with the posters, retailers received promotional flats of the album with easel backs for display, and an eight track "mini LP" with four duet and four solo tracks from the album to The Winning Hand played in-store. After writing the liner notes for the The Winning Hand, Johnny Cash suggested that the album be made into a television special with him as the host. Foster, Kristofferson, Nelson, Lee and Parton immediately agreed to both of Cash's suggestions, but it The Winning Hand a couple of years to arrange the schedules of these five superstars for the special to become a reality. The special includes every cut from the album in addition to some "signature songs" by each performer. Foster stated that he was humbled that the artists involved were participating in the special for a nominal fee in The Winning Hand to him. He went on to say that there wasn't enough money around or a sponsor The Winning Hand to pay for it otherwise. The special aired in over markets in March and April Billboard published a review in the November 13, issue which said, "From the ultra-visual packaging to the liner insert penned by Johnny Cash, this is an engaging project involving three former Monument artists and one currently signed to the reactivated label Kristofferson. The ambitiousness of the undertaking overrides some uneven spots, which can be expected when you're pairing different superstars on nearly every track of a double-record set.
